Human tissue prokallikrein is the enzymatically inactive zymogen of a serine proteinase involved in the liberation of vasoactive kinin peptides, and it is supposed that an impaired prokallikrein-to-kallikrein conversion is closely related to certain hypertensive and inflammatory disorders. Progress in understanding the biological role of the proenzyme has been limited by the absence of an accurate assay for the kallikrein precursor. Background: Plasma amino-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide and antigen carbohydrate 125 levels are positively associated with a higher risk of adverse clinical outcomes in acute heart failure. As a proxy of congestion, antigen carbohydrate 125 has also been proposed as a right-sided heart failure marker. One option to produce more ethene and propene can be to crack naphtha type fractions in dedicated smaller FCC units. We present here the results obtained for high temperature steam catalytic cracking (SCC) of a representative naphtha product (n-heptane) with ZSM-5. It has been found that under those conditions the presence of steam produces an irreversible dealumination of the zeolite as well as a reversible deactivation due to the interaction of water with active sites with a negative effect on protolytic cracking. A kinetic decay model that takes into account the two phenomena has been developed. The apparent activation energy is lower in the presence of steam. It appears that whilst the …

Different mechanisms of resistance to Bacillus thuringiensis toxins in the indianmeal moth.

ABSTRACT Susceptibility to protoxin and toxin forms of Cry1Ab and the binding of 125 I-labeled Cry1Ab and Cry1Ac has been examined in three Plodia interpunctella colonies, one susceptible (688 s ) and two resistant (198 r and Dpl r ) to Bacillus thuringiensis . Toxicological studies showed that the 198 r colony was 11-fold more resistant to Cry1Ab protoxin than to Cry1Ab activated toxin, whereas the Dpl r colony was 4-fold more resistant to protoxin versus toxin. It has been suggested that increased erythrocyte membrane phosphatidylserine (PS) exposure could contribute to hypercoagulability and hemorheological disturbances in obesity. International audience; YAG nanopowders with an average grain size of 30 nm have been successfully synthesized by the co-precipitation method using nitrates with precipitant of ammonium hydrogen carbonate. The influence of precipitation conditions such as pH, aging time and calcination temperature on the formation of secondary phases has been studied.
