Abstract Background Mitochondrial genomes are a valuable source of data for analysing phylogenetic relationships. Besides sequence information, mitochondrial gene order may add phylogenetically useful information, too. Sipuncula are unsegmented marine worms, traditionally placed in their own phylum. Recent molecular and morphological findings suggest a close affinity to the segmented Annelida. Results The first complete mitochondrial genome of a member of Sipuncula, Sipunculus nudus, is presented. The triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 1 (TREM-1) is involved in the innate inflammatory response to microbial infections. Activation and expression of TREM-1 by polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) occurs in concert with Toll-like receptors (TLR) such as TLR4 for bacterial lipopolysaccharide. However, it is currently unclear how this is mediated on a molecular level. Using pharmacological inhibitors and Western blot analysis we demonstrate that phosphatidyl inositide 3-kinase, phospholipase C and the mitogen-activated kinase p38MAPK are essential for the TREM-1- and TLR4-induced oxidative burst of human PMN. This article is aimed at analysing the circulation of the information flow in the press of expellees. From press releases of the Landsmannschaften, of the BdV or the political parties, over travel journals from local associations or texts from readers, content of journals is rarely written from the editors of newspapers. In this niche in the medias placed out of the mass medias, the interactions between the different titles are unavoidable, they are even desirable to support this economically weak sector. A case study will show how the circulation of information allows enrichment of the publications but also how if it leads to a retreat of this press section.

Given this emotion-amplifying effect, it appears likely that mental images play an important role in affective disorders. Three major classes of respiratory proteins are known, hemoglobin, molluscan and arthropod hemocyanin, and hemerythrin (Hr). Similar to hemoglobin, respiratory Hr is packed into erythrocytes floating in the coelomic fluid and is only known from sipunculids, brachiopods, and priapulids. Owing to this scattered distribution, the presence of Hr is generally assumed to be the plesiomorphic condition without phylogenetic importance. In human fibroblasts, N:-phosphoacetyl-L-aspartate (PALA) and gamma-radiation induce reversible and irreversible p53-mediated G(1) cell cycle arrest, respectively. By coupling the premature chromosome condensation technique to fluorescence in situ hybridization, we found no evidence of DNA damage after PALA treatment. We used representational difference analysis (cDNA-RDA) to study changes in gene expression after PALA treatment and gamma-radiation in normal human fibroblasts. Computational imaging with single-pixel detection: Applications in scattering media

We describe computational imaging techniques based on single-pixel detection providing multidimensional information of an input scene. The key element of the optical recording stage is a spatial light modulator which sequentially generates a set of intensity light patterns to sample the scene. In this way, it is possible to use single-pixel detectors to measure different optical parameters such as the light intensity, the spectral content, the polarization state, or the phase. The spatial distribution of these parameters is then computed by applying the theory of compressive sampling.
