Facilitators and Barriers to the Sustainability of a School-Based Bullying Prevention Program.
2022
AbstractThe long-term sustainment of bullying prevention programs has rarely been investigated. This study addresses this gap by identifying facilitators and barriers to the systematic implementation of KiVa antibullying program in real-life conditions, after an evaluation trial. The study is based on focus group interviews with teachers from 15 Finnish primary schools implementing the KiVa program. The schools were selected based on the annual KiVa survey data, with the criteria of long-term involvement in delivering the program and reaching successful outcomes in terms of decreasing trends in bullying and victimization. By utilizing thematic analysis, we identified program-related, organi…
Peer Support for People Living With HIV: A Scoping Review
2021
Peer support for people living with HIV has gained increasing traction and is considered a way to take an active role in self-management. The existing research examining peer support interventions has reported promising evidence of the benefits of peer support. The purpose of our scoping review was to describe research on peer support for people living with HIV. We included 53 studies and sorted them into analytic categories and conducted descriptive analyses. The studies that were published between November/December 2000 and May 2021, had a range of study designs and heterogeneous priority groups, and included 20,657 participants from 16 countries. We identified 43 evaluations of the effe…
P2485Log Book as a new tool for the secondary prevention of coronary artery disease

2021
Different primary and secondary prevention studies have documented that a greater degree of reduction in low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels is associated with a greater decrease in cardiovascular event rates. PCSK9 inhibitors achieve important, rapid and sustained decreases in LDL-C. New clinical practice guidelines for the management of dyslipidemia establish reduced target levels of LDL-C. These goals are hardly achievable with a statin-only treatment, even in combination with ezetimibe. The addition of PCSK9 inhibitors can play a determining role in achieving these recommendations. However, it is important to identify the patient subgroups that can most benefit from this …
2018
Was ist neu?
Platelet Function and Coagulation in Secondary Prevention of Ischemic Heart Disease
1983
The possibility of secondary prevention. of myocardial infarction using drugs as anticoagulants and platelet antiaggregants attracted much attention in the last few years. Results obtained with anticoagulants until now, however, did not always correspond to expectations and were quite contradictory although recent studies show that such treatment is quite effective1 and also that the overall incidence of brain injuries following prolonged anticoagulant treatment does not increase: in fact a certain increase of brain haemorrhages is counterbalanced by a decrease of thrombotic events2.

Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: Public grant(s) – EU funding. Main funding source(s): EUROPEAN SOCIAL FUND MINISTRY OF HEALTH, LATVIA Background. An increasing prevalence (PREV.) of noncomunicable diseases is a major public health concern in Latvia. Regular nationwide epidemiological studies present an opportunity to estimate the dinamics of PREV of health risk factors (RF) and thus assist in planning resources and improving prevention strategies at national level. Objective. The aim was to analyze the PREV of cardiovascular RF identified in a epidemiological study in 2019-2020. To assess changes in RF prevalence, the results were compared to data from a simi…
Use of Combination Statin and Bile Acid Sequestrant Therapy to Treat Dyslipidemia
2015
Lipid management guidelines promulgated around the world continue to emphasize the need to reduce serum levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in order to reduce risk for acute cardiovascular events in both the primary and secondary prevention settings [1–3]. There is growing consensus that when it comes to LDL-C management, lower is better with no apparent lower limit that is discernible from current evidence, i.e., there is greater and greater benefit as LDL-C decreases with no apparent loss in safety [4–8]. Dyslipidemia and coronary artery disease (CAD) are widely prevalent throughout the world. Considerable effort continues to be focused on expanding the appropriate use o…
Availability of secondary prevention services after stroke in Europe: An ESO/SAFE survey of national scientific societies and stroke experts
2018
Background Recurrent stroke is associated with increased disability and cognitive impairment, but the availability of secondary prevention measures after transient ischaemic attack (TIA) or stroke in Europe is uncertain. This limits prioritisation of investment and development of national stroke strategies. Methods National stroke representatives throughout Europe were surveyed. Consensus panels reported national data if available, or else expert opinion, estimating the availability of each intervention by quintiles of patients, dichotomised for analysis at 60%. Countries were classified into tertiles of gross domestic product per capita. Results Of 50 countries, 46 responded; 14/45 (31%) h…
