Allyl methyl disulfide, a peroxide scavenger, was studied together with three isomeric (two sulfoxides and one epoxide) forms of its mono-oxidized products. After a full conformational study of the reactant and three isomeric oxidized forms, the geometries were optimized at B3LYP/6-31G (d) level of theory. The epoxide form turned and to be more stable than either one of the two isomeric sulfoxides. Changes for Thermodynamic functions of oxidation reactions were calculated and from the δGreaction values the equilibrium constant for the interconversions of the oxidized products were estimated. Contemporary culture – as already noted – is becoming more and more visual. Contemporary catechesis, referring to its rich, centuries-long experience, should also use different types of images. The first part of this article presents the visual principle as one of basic educating principles, and the second part presents the correlation between the teaching of Catholic religion, and art education in Polish schools. Integrating risk management tools for regional forest planning : an interactive multiobjective value at risk approach

In this paper, we present an approach employing multiobjective optimization to support decision making in forest management planning under risk. The primary objectives are biodiversity and timber cash flow, evaluated from two perspectives: the expected value and the value-at-risk (VaR). In addition, the risk level for both the timber cash flow and biodiversity values are included as objectives. Singular distributed parameter systems

The paper deals with the distributed parameter systems described by coupled partial differential equations with singular matrix coefficients. Initial-boundary-value problems are considered in the light of both singular 1d systems theory and the Fourier approach to distributed parameter systems. The method presented in this paper gives the possibility of determining acceptable initial-boundary conditions. An illustrative example is given.

Strange meson production at high density and temperature

The properties of strange mesons ($K$, $\bar K$ and $\bar K^*$) in dense matter are studied using a unitary approach in coupled channels for meson-baryon scattering. The kaon-nucleon interaction incorporates $s$- and $p$-wave contributions within a chiral model whereas the interaction of $\bar K^*$ with nucleons is obtained in the framework of the local hidden gauge formalism. The in-medium solution for the scattering amplitude accounts for Pauli blocking effects, mean-field binding on baryons, and meson self-energies. We obtain the $K$, $\bar K$ and $\bar K^*$ (off-shell) spectral functions in the nuclear medium and study their behaviour at finite density, temperature and momentum. We also…

Molecular Motion, Defect Structures and Phase Transitions in Oligomer Crystals

Defect structures in the high temperature modifications of oligomer crystals can generally be discribed as a superposition of chain rotations, longitudinal shifts of the molecules and the occurrence of conformational defects. Applying a suitable combination of experimental techniques it is possible to discriminate between the different components of disorder. This is demonstrated in a discussion of results obtained on n-alkanes, cycloalkanes and perfluoro-n-alkanes.
