Convolutional architectures for virtual screening

2020

Abstract Background A Virtual Screening algorithm has to adapt to the different stages of this process. Early screening needs to ensure that all bioactive compounds are ranked in the first positions despite of the number of false positives, while a second screening round is aimed at increasing the prediction accuracy. Results A novel CNN architecture is presented to this aim, which predicts bioactivity of candidate compounds on CDK1 using a combination of molecular fingerprints as their vector representation, and has been trained suitably to achieve good results as regards both enrichment factor and accuracy in different screening modes (98.55% accuracy in active-only selection, and 98.88% …

Filtered circular fingerprints improve either prediction or runtime performance while retaining interpretability.

2016

Background Even though circular fingerprints have been first introduced more than 50 years ago, they are still widely used for building highly predictive, state-of-the-art (Q)SAR models. Historically, these structural fragments were designed to search large molecular databases. Hence, to derive a compact representation, circular fingerprint fragments are often folded to comparatively short bit-strings. However, folding fingerprints introduces bit collisions, and therefore adds noise to the encoded structural information and removes its interpretability. Both representations, folded as well as unprocessed fingerprints, are often used for (Q)SAR modeling. Results We show that it can be prefer…

Anne d’Autriche en ses images : légitimation du pouvoir féminin et culture visuelle de la majesté dans la France du XVIIe siècle

2018

Anne of Austria offers an important part, yet neglected, in the the development of royal iconography in seventeenth century France. Devoided from management of power under the reign of her husband Louis XIII, she is however the subject of many representations. The number of her images increases when she accedes to the responsibilities of the government at the death of the king, in 1643, becoming regent in the name of her minor son, Louis XIV. Beyond its majority in 1651, she maintains herself at a prominent place, until the death of Mazarin in 1661. During these two decades, a deep political crisis in France culminates in the so-called Fronde. In this context, the image of Anne of Austria b…

The playa environments of the Lodève Permian basin (Languedoc-France).

2008

28 pages; International audience; The Lodève Permian synrift sequence is represented by thick stacked climate-controled playa cycles which have been constrained by structural, sedimentological, geochemical and paleontological processes. The present paper merges the different results in order to better constrain the dynamics and palaeoecologycal evolution of the playa system from Late Cisuralian to Early Lopingian time. In this depositional environment, thining upwards sheet-flood sequences represent flooding events; they are relayed by ephemeral ponding, suspension settling and limited carbonate precipitation accompanied by large amounts of shallow to subaerial sedimentary structures (curre…

Copper Dynamics and Impact on Microbial Communities in Soils of Variable Organic Status

2008

International audience; The effect of soil organic status on copper impact was investigated by means of a microcosm study carried out on a vineyard soil that had been amended with varying types of organic matter during a previous long-term field experiment. Soil microcosms were contaminated at 250 mg Cu kg−1 and incubated for 35 days. Copper distribution and dynamics were assessed in the solid matrix by a sequential extraction procedure and in the soil solution by measuring total and free exchangeable copper concentrations. Copper bioavailability was also measured with a whole-cell biosensor. Modifications of microbial communities were assessed by means of biomass-C measurements and charact…

Behavioral response of the egg parasitoid Ooencyrtus telenomicida to host-related chemical cues in a tritrophic perspective

2010

The response of the generalist egg parasitoid Ooencyrtus telenomicida (Vassiliev) (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae) to host-related chemical cues from tomato plants, Solanum lycopersicum L., and adults of Nezara viridula (L.) (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) was investigated in laboratory-based no-choice and paired-choice tests. In Y-tube olfactometer experiments, when female wasps were exposed to volatiles from plants in different conditions, they were attracted only to volatiles produced by N. viridula adult-infested tomato plants. When female wasps were exposed to adults of N. viridula, they were attracted to volatiles from virgin males, and, at a lower level, to volatiles from mated females in preov…

Use of fluorescent dyes for developing latent lip prints

2004

Advances in the sensitivity of techniques used to examine latent prints (finger or labial) make it necessary to find more effective methods of locating prints on different surfaces. The most difficult surfaces are those which are porous or multicoloured, in which case the developed print may not be easily seen. This study analyses the effectiveness of two fluorescent dyes, Nile Blue and Nile Red, in developing both recent and older latent lip prints on porous and multicoloured surfaces. The results indicate that Nile Red is a very effective reagent for the development of latent lip prints on difficult surfaces of this type.

Prepublicaciones: distribucion centralizada vs. descentralizada.

2000

Prepublications are accounts of research results that are distributed prior to formal publication in scientific journals. They are the form of scholarly communication that has taken more advantage of the advances in telecommunication and information technologies. Their electronic distribution has taken a different form within the disciplines. In this paper we compare the decentralized model of Economies with the centralized model of Physics.

Las Prepublicaciones, borradores de trabajos distribuídos antes de su publicacion formal en revistas, han sido el proceso de comunicación científica que más se ha beneficiado de los avances en telecomunicaciones.
