NEUROPLASTIC AND BEHAVIORAL CHANGES FOLLOWING PRISM ADAPTATION

2022

Prismatic or Prism adaptation (PA) is a particular visuomotor procedure that through the deviation of visual field and a motor task influences brain activity (Redding & Wallace, 2006). Initially developed 1998, when Rossetti et al. study showed an improvement of neglected hemispace exploring emineglected stroke patients, the number of studies focused on PA was greatly increased. The PA effects were investigated in healthy subjects as well as in patients in different tasks targeting different cognitive functions. A large number of applications of PA procedure was developed in the different studies but the majority of the procedures includes a movement task during the wearing of lenses that d…

Population of neutron-rich nuclei around 48ca with deep inelastic collisions

2009

The deep inelastic reaction 48Ca+64Ni at 6 MeV/A has been studied using the CLARA–PRISMA setup. Angular distributions for pure elastic scattering and total cross-sections of the most relevant transfer channels have been measured. The experimental results are compared with predictions from a semiclassical model, showing good agreement for the presently analyzed few neutrons transfer channels. The decay of the most intense reaction products has also been studied, giving indications of the population of states with very short lifetimes. Gadea Raga, Andrés, Gadea.Andres@ific.uv.es

All-Normal-Dispersion Photonic Crystal Fibers Under Prism of Supercontinuum Generation and Pulse Compression

2015

We discuss properties of all-normal-dispersion photonic crystal fibers in context of supercontinuum generation and compression of ultrashort pulses. The application of pump pulses typical for the state of the art Ti:Sapphire lasers allows obtaining quite flat and broad spectra extending more than one octave in this fiber. The influence of initial pump pulse parameters such as pulse energy, duration, and pump wavelength on the SC generation was investigated. It was shown that compression of pulses with such SC spectra allows obtaining a few cycle pulses up to 8.1 fs, if a simple quadratic compressor is used and single cycle pulses up to 2.5 fs, if full phase compensation is provided.

Interlocking inorganic screw helices: synthesis, structure, and magnetism of the novel framework uranium orthothiophoshates A11U7(PS4)13 (A = K, Rb).

2002

The novel quaternary uranium thiophosphate K11U7(PS4)13 has been synthesized by reacting uranium metal, K2S, S, and P2S5 at 700 degrees C in an evacuated silica tube. The crystal structure was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. K11U7(PS4)13 crystallizes in the tetragonal space group I42d (a = 32.048(2) A, c = 17.321(1) A, Z = 8). The structure contains a tunnel framework composed of eight interlocking uranium U7(PS4)13 screw helices, with alkali metal cations residing inside the framework channels. The uranium atoms are coordinated in a bi- or tricapped trigonal prismatic fashion. The screw helices are built up from uranium atoms interconnected by PS4 tetrahedral uni…

Assessing Non-Photosynthetic Cropland Biomass from Spaceborne Hyperspectral Imagery

2021

Non-photosynthetic vegetation (NPV) biomass has been identified as a priority variable for upcoming spaceborne imaging spectroscopy missions, calling for a quantitative estimation of lignocellulosic plant material as opposed to the sole indication of surface coverage. Therefore, we propose a hybrid model for the retrieval of non-photosynthetic cropland biomass. The workflow included coupling the leaf optical model PROSPECT-PRO with the canopy reflectance model 4SAIL, which allowed us to simulate NPV biomass from carbon-based constituents (CBC) and leaf area index (LAI). PROSAIL-PRO provided a training database for a Gaussian process regression (GPR) algorithm, simulating a wide range of non…

The evaluation of dual-task conditions on static postural control in the older adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis protocol

2019

Abstract Background In postural stability evaluation, the dual-task concept is often adopted in order to create a more challenging situation. The dual-task consists of performing simultaneously two tasks, a primary static or dynamic motor task and an additional secondary cognitive task. Usually, a multitask condition leads to a reduction in the postural control performance, especially in older adults. Considering the wide spectrum of secondary task conditions existing in scientific literature, the present manuscript aims to write a peer-reviewed protocol that will be used in a systematic review and meta-analysis performed to identify the effects of different secondary tasks conditions in a …

Advanced Hardware and Software for the Upgrade of Mirror/Prisma Monochromator SPM-2 (Carl Zeiss Jena) for the Measurements of Basic Spectroscopic Pro…

2021

Today's digital electronics and fast computers allow the efficiently processing of large volumes of spectroscopic information, which means the opportunity to reuse and upgrade monochromator with sophisticated optical and mechanical systems being designed and used in the middle of the last century. Particular interest is towards high-resolution prism monochromator. We used such an approach to computerize manual operations of universal mirror monochromator SPM-2, which has changeable quartz, glass, NaCl and KBr crystal prisms. SPM-2 was produced by VEB Carl Zeiss JENA in the early sixties of the last century (in former GDR), and its advanced features were widely used [1]. The current interest…

Twists in Ferromagnetic Monolayers With Trigonal Prismatic Symmetry

2018

Two-dimensional materials such as graphene or hexagonal boron nitride are indispensable in industry. The recently discovered 2D ferromagnetic materials also promise to be vital for applications. In this work, we develop a phenomenological description of non-centrosymmetric 2D ferromagnets with trigonal prismatic crystal structure. We chose to study this special symmetry group since these materials do break inversion symmetry and therefore, in principle, allow for chiral spin structures such as magnetic helices and skyrmions. However, unlike all non-centrosymmetric magnets known so far, we show that the symmetry of magnetic trigonal prismatic monolayers neither allow for an internal relativi…
