Coumarin-Phosphine-Based Smart Probes for Tracking Biologically Relevant Metal Complexes: From Theoretical to Biological Investigations
2016
International audience; Ten metal-based complexes and associated ligands have been synthesized and characterized. One of the metal ligands is a coumarin-phosphine derivative, which displays tunable fluorescence properties. The fluorescence is quenched in the case of the free ligand and ruthenium and osmium complexes, whereas it is strong for the gold complexes and phosphonium derivatives. These trends were rationalized by theoretical calculations, which revealed non-radiative channels involving a dark state for the free ligands that is lower in energy than the emissive state and is responsible for the quenching of fluorescence. For the Ru-II and Os-II complexes, other non-radiative channels…
Territorial localization of heat shock mRNA production in sea urchin gastrulae.
1985
In situ hybridization experiments with a labeled DNA probe indicate that the ability to respond to heat shock with the production of the mRNA for the 70 kd heat shock protein is segregated into the ectodermal cells already at the gastrula stage or earlier during the embryonic development of Paracentrotus lividus.
Īpašuma lietošanas tiesību aprobežojumi virszemes ūdensobjektu aizsragjoslās.
2020
Maģistra darba tēma “Īpašuma lietošanas tiesību aprobežojumi virszemes ūdensobjektu aizsargjoslās” ir aktuāla, jo pieaug sabiedrības locekļu tendence attīstīt būvniecības ieceres virszemes ūdensobjektu tuvumā, neizvērtējot būvniecības ietekmi uz konkrēto ūdensobjektu kopumā, kā rezultātā tiek apdraudētas ūdens ekosistēmas un vide. Darbā ir apskatīts virszemes ūdensobjektu aizsargjoslas jēdziens un tā ģenēze, īpašuma lietošanas tiesību aprobežojumu priekšnoteikumi, teritorijas plānošanas un būvniecības īpatnības virszemes ūdensobjektu aizsargjoslās. Pētījuma rezultātā secināms, ka pastāv problēmas ar virszemes ūdensobjektu aizsargjoslu noteikšanas metodiku, nepiemērotu teritorijas plānošanas…
Īpašuma tiesību aprobežojumi Baltijas jūras Rīgas jūras līča krasta kāpu aizsargjoslā.
2019
FIB-FESEM and EMPA results on Antoninianus silver coins for manufacturing and corrosion processes
2018
[EN] A set of ancient Antoninianus silver coins, dating back between 249 and 274¿A.D. and minted in Rome, Galliae, Orient and Ticinum, have been characterized. We use, for the first time, a combination of nano-invasive (focused ion beam-field emission scanning electron microscopy-X-ray microanalysis (FIB-FESEM-EDX), voltammetry of microparticles (VIMP)) and destructive techniques (scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDX) and electron microprobe analysis (EMPA)) along with non-invasive, i.e., micro-Raman spectroscopy. The results revealed that, contrary to the extended belief, a complex Ag-Cu-Pb-Sn alloy was used. The use of alloys was common in the flourishing years of the Roman Empire. In th…
Hydrophobic interactions between aroma compounds and beta-Lactoglobulin using a specific fluorescent probe and NMR
2008
International audience; Many aroma compounds are known to bind with proteins, and elucidating these bindind interactions is a key in a better knowledgment of flavour perception mechanisms (1). beta-Lactoglobulin (bLg), the major whey protein of milk, has been used as a model food protein in numerous studies. Previous work have shown different binding sites on bLg for aroma compounds as a function of their chemical class, and emphasized the importance of hydrophobic interactions (2). (...)

A method for taxonomic determination ofCandida albicans with DNA probes
1993
Determination of Candida species represents an important problem derived from the clinical implications of the species belonging to this genus. DNA probes have already been used for the epidemiology of Candida albicans, as well as for taxonomic analysis of Candida and other genera, although these probes are based on non-species-specific DNA sequences. In this work we carried out a 48-h assay, allowing the identification of C. albicans from clinical isolates, using DNA probes based on C. albicans LEU2 and URA3 genes. Another probe related to C. albicans SEC18 gene was shown not to be C. albicans specific.
Possible association of sudden infant death with partial complement C4 deficiency revealed by post-mortem DNA typing of HLA class II and III genes
1989
Based on evidence of an increased rate of respiratory infections in sudden infant death (SID) infants as well as the observation of familial occurrence, we analysed in a retrospective study class II and class II genes of the major histocompatibility complex in 40 cases of SID by Southern blot analysis of DNA obtained post mortem from tissue samples. In 24 cases, the parents were interviewed and confirmatory human lymphocyte antigen (HLA) and DNA typing was carried out. Using HLA-DR beta and -DQ beta probes, no evidence of an abnormal HLA-DR frequency distribution in SID infants was detected (P = 0.97). Using DNA probes for the tandemly arranged complement C4 and steroid 21-hydroxylase genes…
Controlling the spatial distribution of aluminum in ZSM-5 crystals
1993
Abstract The spatial distribution of aluminum over ZSM-5 crystals was systematically studied using electron microprobing on polished crystals. Crystals synthesized with TPABr as template exhibit a pronounced enrichment of aluminum in the crystal rim, essentially irrespective of the aluminum source employed, although aluminum sources with organic anions are favoring less inhomogeneous profiles. With 1,6-hexanediol or from totally inorganic reaction gels, crystals with completely homogeneous aluminum profiles are obtained, even if the crystals grow larger than 50 μm. In the 1,6-hexanediol system the homogeneous profiles could be changed to profiles similar to the TPABr system by addition of K…
