Prepregs find industrial applications thanks to their high thermomechanical properties and easy implementation. However, they have two major drawback. First, they needto be carried and stored at low temperature. The second drawback is linked to the use of solvent in the future matrix, generating VOCs during thermocompression process. Those two points leads to environmental and economical overcharges resolved by a new dry impregnation process developed by Fibroline company. This paper aims to show that the reception of British coloured illustrated books in the early twentieth-century reflects the artistic and aesthetic repositioning induced by the development of photomechanical process. Photomechanical reproduction freed the graphic line as well as colour. Reviews published at the turn of the century—as exemplified by The Studio—reveal a tension between opacity and transparency, materiality and lightness, chromophilia and chromophobia. These oppositions apply to the art of the book—as in the books illustrated by Arthur Rackham and Edmund Dulac—as well as to interior decoration. On considère différentes configurations d'endommagement du composite et deux types de comportement matriciel (élastique et viscoélastique) avec ou sans décohésion à l'interface fibre rompue/matrice.
