Modulation of the Endocannabinoids N-Arachidonoylethanolamine (AEA) and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) on Executive Functions in Human.
2013
Animal studies point to an implication of the endocannabinoid system on executive functions. In humans, several studies have suggested an association between acute or chronic use of exogenous cannabinoids (Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and executive impairments. However, to date, no published reports establish the relationship between endocannabinoids, as biomarkers of the cannabinoid neurotransmission system, and executive functioning in humans. The aim of the present study was to explore the association between circulating levels of plasma endocannabinoids N-arachidonoylethanolamine (AEA) and 2-Arachidonoylglycerol (2-AG) and executive functions (decision making, response inhibition and cognit…
Now you see me: perception as a basic principle in foreign languages learning
2016

Does Holistic Processing Require a Large Brain? Insights From Honeybees and Wasps in Fine Visual Recognition Tasks
2018
The expertise of humans for recognizing faces is largely based on holistic processing mechanism, a sophisticated cognitive process that develops with visual experience. The various visual features of a face are thus glued together and treated by the brain as a unique stimulus, facilitating robust recognition. Holistic processing is known to facilitate fine discrimination of highly similar visual stimuli, and involves specialized brain areas in humans and other primates. Although holistic processing is most typically employed with face stimuli, subjects can also learn to apply similar image analysis mechanisms when gaining expertise in discriminating novel visual objects, like becoming exper…
Plasma membrane redox system in the erythrocytes of rowers: Pilot study
2017
The oxidative stress results from a change in the physiological balance between oxidant and antioxidant species. This type of stress is a chemical change in the redox state of cells. The increased production of reactive species is related to an excessive metabolic activation, for example, from an intense physical exercise or an excessive caloric intake (1). In physiological conditions, muscle fibers are provided with an antioxidant system able to keep under control the excessive production of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS).
ON THE CONCEPT OF THE ENHANCED FON CATALOG COMPILATION
2017
We suppose to compile the enhanced version of FON (Photographic Survey of the Northern Sky) catalog of stellar positions and B-magnitudes in the sky region from -20 to 90 degrees on declination. The photographic base of the project comprises about 5,700 plates obtained at three observatories of the former SU MAO NAS of Ukraine, Kitab observatoryof Uzbekistan and Gissar observatory of Tajikistan. The mean epoch of the catalog is around 1988. The expected limited stellar magnitude is 17.5m. More than 5,400 plates are processed to support the photometric part of the catalog. The plates were shot on the 1.2 m Schmidt telescope in Baldone, Latvia, in the U and V bands. Color data provide the pos…
Impact of the terrestrial reference frame on the determination of the celestial reference frame.
2022
Currently three up-to-date Terrestrial Reference Frames (TRF) are available, the ITRF2014 from IGN, the DTRF2014 from DGFI-TUM, and JTRF2014 from JPL. All use the identical input data of space-geodetic station positions and Earth orientation parameters, but the concept of combining these data is fundamentally different. The IGN approach is based on the combination of technique solutions, while the DGFI is combining the normal equation systems. Both yield in reference epoch coordinates and velocities for a global set of stations. JPL uses a Kalman filter approach, realizing a TRF through weekly time series of geocentric coordinates. As the determination of the CRF is not independent of the T…
SCIROCCO tool to support knowledge transfer in integrated care
2019
Background: Knowledge transfer has been well recognised as an effective enabler to access existing evidence and learning on integrated care. It requires dedicated support to ensure that the flow of appropriate information and knowledge between adopting and transferring entities is tailored appropriately to the context and maturity of the adopting system. SCIROCCO is an online participatory tool that helps stakeholders to understand: 1) The context requirements of a particular good practice that is considered for adoption; 2) The level of maturity required for a health and social care system to adopt and scale up integrated care; 3) The actions that more progressive regions have taken to be …
Acromion clavicular joint reconstruction with LArS ligament in acute dislocation
2019
Background: The acromion clavicular joint dislocations are common injuries of the shoulder. The severity is dependent upon the degree of ligamentous injury. Surgical treatment is typically performed in higher grade acromioclavicular separation with several static and dynamic operative procedures with or without primary ligament replacement. Methods: 47 patients with acute Rockwood type III, IV, and V injuries were treated surgically with LARS reconstruction. The success of technique was evaluated by radiographic outcomes for each patient at every follow-up visit (one, three, 12 months), while to assess pain reduction and clinical evaluation Visual Analogue scale score (VAS) and Constant-Murl…
