The Newton process for operator equations in say a linear normed complete space converges under certain hypothesis about the Frechet-derivatives of the operator with at least the order two. There are different ways to improve this Newton process. For instance you obtain a process of order three if you add a correction element containing the second Frechet-derivative of the operator [1]. In the following note we will generalize this idea. In a recursive manner -- by adding higher derivatives -- we will construct iterative processes of any orderk (k > 1). A general theorem due toCollatz provides us error estimates for this processes. Last we will illustrate the processes by several examples.

New Families of Symplectic Runge-Kutta-Nyström Integration Methods

We present new 6-th and 8-th order explicit symplectic Runge-Kutta-Nystrom methods for Hamiltonian systems which are more efficient than other previously known algorithms. The methods use the processing technique and non-trivial flows associated with different elements of the Lie algebra involved in the problem. Both the processor and the kernel are compositions of explicitly computable maps.

CY-Operators and L-Functions

This a write up of a talk given at the MATRIX conference at Creswick in 2017 (to be precise, on Friday, January 20, 2017). It reports on work in progress with P. Candelas and X. de la Ossa. The aim of that work is to determine, under certain conditions, the local Euler factors of the L-functions of the fibres of a family of varieties without recourse to the equations of the varieties in question, but solely from the associated Picard–Fuchs equation.

The estimation of a parameter corrupted by noise is a common tasks in wireless sensor networks, where the deployed nodes cooperate in order to improve their own inaccurate observations. This cooperation usually involves successive data exchanges and local information updates until a global consensus value is reached. The quality of the final estimator depends on the amount of collected observations, hence the number of active nodes. Moreover, the inherent iterative nature of the consensus process involves a certain energy consumption. Abstract The realm of alkaline-based fuel cells has with the arrival of anionic exchange membrane fuel cells (AEMFCs) taken a great step to replace traditional liquid electrolyte alkaline fuel cells (AFCs).
