«Un vero e proprio film»: Longhi, Briganti e La Maniera italiana (1961)
2021
The essay offers a detailed analysis of Giuliano Briganti's book «La Maniera italiana», which was published in 1961 as the first volume of…
Die totale Produktion: Technik, Kapital und die Logik der Unendlichkeit
2020
Clinical-anatomical correlation in a selective phonemic speech production impairment
2004
Although phonemic paraphasias are common in aphasic disorders, including Broca's aphasia, conduction aphasia and transcortical motor aphasia, selective phonemic speech production impairment, or phonemic disintegration, is unusual. A patient with a selective phonemic speech production disorder underwent clinical, neuropsychological and structural neuroradiological assessment over a period of 6 years. The disorder was characterised by phonemic paraphasias (phonemic disintegration) with preserved comprehension and naming. Imaging showed a focal lesion in the white matter of the left precentral gyrus and, to a lesser extent, the posterior part of the left middle frontal gyrus, with overlying co…
DOWN SYNDROME AND REFERENTIAL COMMUNICATION: UNDERSTANDING AND PRODUCTION
2011
Children with Down Syndrome (DS) have a delay that affects the global motor development, cognitive, communicative and linguistic. From the literature shows that these subjects follow the same general line of language acquisition of children with typical development, although their language remains behind their non-verbal cognitive abilities and then proceed with a slower. In our study we have set ourselves the objective to investigate some critical dimensions of the communicative function in particular, referential communication, which means the subject's ability to produce messages "referentially oriented”, or messages that allow the listener to recognize the immediacy of contact with the …
Psychological variables in medically assisted reproduction: a systematic review
2022
Introduction: The paths of medically assisted reproduction represent the most important scientific progress to cope with the inability to achieve spontaneous conception (SC) and to reach desired parenthood. Couples undergoing assisted reproductive technology (ART) and couples not facing ovulation induction and artificial fertilization show sufficient levels of well-being and psychological adjustment. However, in some cases couples undergoing ART show lower perceived quality of life than couples with SC. Our aim is to investigate the main psychological variables involved in the special risk condition of medically assisted reproduction and how they could direct specific guidelines to enhance …
A Model of Goal Dynamics in Organizations: a case study
2009
The purpose of the present work is to build a suitable system dynamics model for goal dynamics in organizations, as proposed by Barlas & Yasarcan (2008). The proposed model does not bear any ambition of being exhaustive: the main objective of this paper is to propose a model of goal dynamics in which Goal Setting, Management by Objectives and Training are viewed as human resource practices able to enhance workers’ goal commitment, and therefore, improve organizational performance. In the first part of this paper, an analysis of the Goal Setting Theory and the role of goal setting practices, in bettering worker’s performance, are stressed. In the second part, a case-study, the causal loop an…
Prognostic value of IL-6 and IL-10 serum levels and immunonutritional assessment in determining postoperative complications after geriatric surgery
2009
The onset of postoperative septic complications has recently been associated to serum levels of interleukin (IL) IL-6 and IL-10. Patients with complications have higher serum levels than patients without complication after surgery. IL-6 has been recognized as early marker of postoperative septic events. Furthermore IL-6 increases with age, expecially if there are associated diseases. It is a sign of functional deterioration of different organs. The disregulation in interleukin production, anesthetic drugs, hemorrhage and transfusions may lead to the onset of postoperative complications. The latter are more frequent in oncologic patients. The aim of our study is to evaluate pre- and postoper…
Inflammatory Response to a High Radiation Dose in Breast Cancer
2014
Background: Radiation therapy (RT) is an essential treatment modality used for breast cancer (BC) care. Radiations can stimulate the immune system via the early activation of cytokine cascades, which can greatly affect cellular radio-sensitivity. Our aim is to analyze inflammatory response induced by high ionizing radiation (IR) doses, generated by intraoperative radiotherapy (IORT) treatment, to identify several potential targets that may influence cell radio-response. Methods: MCF10, MCF7 and MDA-MB231 BC cell lines have been exposed to high IR (23 Gray and 9 Gray), delivered by IORT treatments. Conditioned media (CM) were assayed at the time points: 0’, 30’, 1, 3, 6, 24, 48, and 72 hours…
Otite media atelettasica, adesiva, timpanosclerotica: update medico e chirurgico
2011
Otitis media secretive is one of the most common ear diseases characterized by frequent sequelae and complications; in particular the authors describe middle ear atelectasis with pocket retraction of tympanic membrane, pocket retraction limited to pars tensa or to pars flaccida, adhesive otitis media, partial or total myringosclerosis and tympanosclerosis. For each disease the Authors comment the best surgical approaches to preserve and restore conductive hearing loss. As for middle ear atelectasis, adhesive otitis media, myringosclerosis and partial tympanosclerosis it was evidenced a significant hearing gain while in total tympanosclerosis there was an initial hearing improvement in a sho…
