Initial VET in Spain
2018
lnitial vocational education in Spain was created within the formal education system in 1970. During the reform process, in 1990, it has been acquired modern architecture. During the period from 1990 to 2002, a series of reforms took place in the country, the most important of which was the adoption in 2002 of the national law on education, the main provisions of which were agreed upon with all stakeholders - the main political parties, social agents, employers and trade unions. The law introduced the following key features of the vocational education system in Spain: a mandatory curriculum module for all students of vocational s implemented directly at the workplace; the same requirements …
Towards cross-cultural social work: a teaching approach for development of intercultural competences / Hacía un trabajo social intercultural: un mode…
2017
The professional skills demanded of social workers by contemporary society must unavoidably include the capacity to apply knowledge, to know how to act and acquire the appropriate new competences for listening and taking care of people coming from different cultures. With regard to the training of future generations of social workers it must be remembered that they will have to deal with an increasingly globalized society and face the new demands placed upon the profession by the presence of a greater number of people migrating to Italy in increasingly greater numbers. Teaching experimentation carried out as part of the degree course in Social Work at the University of Palermo over the last…
Everyday creativity : boosting creative resources with Finnish models of education : teachers' handbook
2019
This Handbook is the result of several conversations and activities that took place during a blended in-service teacher education course “Everyday Creativity – Boosting the internal creative resources of European schools with Finnish models of education for creativity”. This course offered opportunities for teachers from Romania, Hungary, Italy and the Netherlands to map creative practices in their own school communities, come to Finland to reflect on their work in dialogue with Finnish teachers and education experts, and finally implement follow-up projects to further develop their creative pedagogical ideas . Instead of writing textbook-like material, we decided to emphasize teacher parti…

Inquiry Based Learning and Responsible Research and Innovation: Examples of Interdisciplinary Approaches at Different Schooling Levels
2021
The Inquiry-Based approach to Science Education (IBSE) is presented in scienti#c literature (Hake, 1998; Sharma et al., 2010) and in research projects reports (e.g. ESTABLISH, 2010; SAILS, 2014) as a credible solution to the reported lack of ef#cacy of more ‘traditional’ educative approaches, especially when focused on Research and Innovation (RRI) (Sutcliffe, 2006; IRRESISTIBLE, 2013; Ark of Inquiry, 2013). IBSE is an inductive approach to science teaching that considers direct experience at the center of learning. IBSE activities and strategies actively involve students in the identi#cation of relevant evidence, in critical and logical reasoning on the evidence collected and in re+ection …
Multiple Creativities Put to Work for Creative Ecologies in Teacher Professional Learning: A Vision and Practice of Everyday Creativity
2021
AbstractIn this chapter, we argue for a new vision for teacher professional learning based on the diverse creativities as practice which catalyzes educational change in whole-school contexts. We argue that it is possible (and preferable) to expand improvements to teacher education and professional development beyond neoliberal notions of “workplace readiness” and toward an environmental, ecological, sustainable education for lives worth living. This creative ecological approach considers the entire context and community of various stakeholders.Applying a case study approach, we analyze teachers’ published assignments in a blended in-service teacher education course entitled “Everyday Creati…
International Social Work: Professional Debates about Global and Local Practices
2020
International social work is still a work in progress and an arena with diverse definitions, interpretations, and directions. The international application of social work requires taking a multi-faceted view of the nature of social work and has implications for the international debate on values and ethics; the profession's firm commitment to the principles of human rights and social justice raises many questions about how these values may be perceived differently in relation to cultural and national contexts. The increasing mobility of social workers across national borders, as well as posing challenges in terms of cultural adaptation and sometimes language competences, offers important op…
