God and the Profit—A European Overlook on Some Economic Doctrines
2018
When we discuss the relationship religion-European identity, we should switch between two parties. We do not have “unique networks”. It is necessary to have “accomplices” and “connivance”, in the good sense of these words, for the purpose of progress which does not come only from one part, but from all parts. It is also necessary to always look to the future, but without neglecting history knowledge, depicting lessons, the needed experience. Out of all these, we exclude anarchism, left or right-side terrorism, religious or lay, Islamic or Christian etc. Superior technologies may promote it widely developed. Let us start from the fact that people radicalization—beyond those paid directly to …

The concept of integrated profit offers a theoretical framework for a holistic analysis of contract goals between agricultural producers’ groups and agri-food sector. The theoretical background applied in this paper is the contract theory. The primary purpose being the identification of vertical coordination forms between producers’ organizations and agri-food sector. Consequently, the specific goal was to recognize price mechanisms in contracts and their analysis in the context of the integrated profit (only in the field of coordination). The research focused on contracts signed in 2014 between groups operating on poultry market and their first buyers. The survey (collection of primary dat…
Weak and Strong Compensation for the Prioritization of Public Investments: Multidimensional Analysis for Pools
2015
Despite the economic crisis still heavily affecting most of Europe, a possible resumption can be found in the revitalization of public and private investments. These investments should be directed not only towards the strategic areas of infrastructures and production, but also to those which allow for a higher level of the quality of life (sports facilities, parks, etc.). In such cases, the need to balance the reasons of financial sustainability with environmental and social profiles is even more evident. Thus, multicriteria techniques, supporting complex assessments, should be implemented together with a monetary feasibility study (cost-benefit analysis). Multidimensional methods allow for…
An overview of the impact of electrotechnologies for the recovery of oil and high-value compounds from vegetable oil industry: Energy and economic co…
2016
Oil recovery from oilseeds and fruits is one of the food processes where efficiency is the key to ensure profitability. Wastes and by-products generated during oil production process are, on the other hand, a great source of high-added value compounds that could be recovered in turn at a later stage. In many cases, physical extraction processes present efficiency problems or just not profitable, requiring a chemical solvent extraction that could be toxic and difficult to manage from an environmental point of view. Furthermore, the use of high temperatures to improve and/or accelerate the processes (with consequent degradation of thermolabile compounds) is usually required. Therefore, the ap…
(Un)Routinization of the Environmental Performance Measures – A Case Study; BSC Rules but Does not Routinize
2009
This study focuses on the (un)routinization of environmental performance measures (EPMs). It studies how new environmental measures were implemented within the new environmental management system (EMS) and how they became connected with the financial measures, like cost savings and profitability. By doing so, they were connected to the taken-for-granted profit orientation of the case company in order to overcome these values and to make them succeed in organization. Later on these new measures were also included in the new BSC. In conditions of the profit oriented taken-for-granted values, the BSC locked the rule status of the environmental measures, but it locked them at the operational le…

Innovative IC framework in the non profit sector
2012
The importance of intellectual capital in the non-profit sector generates the need to measure its role in the value creation process. The purpose of the paper is to study the application of intellectual capital within the non-profit sector, by turning attention to resources such as: knowledge, experience, and skills. Organizations, which are able to increase the knowledge of their staff and transform this knowledge into skills to improve services, can easily meet users’ needs and, thereby, become competitive. This contribution proposes to study how people’s knowledge can contribute to increasing social value, which is the non–profit organization’s aim. Furthermore, the goal is to de…
The RedTube copyright infringement affair in Germany: shame on who?
2015
Recently, tens of thousands of German Internet users were confronted with copyright infringement claims for allegedly watching porn clips on the streaming platform RedTube.com. The alleged copyright infringers received ‘Abmahnung’ cease and desist letters that gave them an opportunity to settle copyright infringements out of court by paying rights-holders €250 in compensation. While in cases relating to peer-to-peer file-sharing, the IP address of a peer can easily be identified,1 the RedTube case raises the question how consumers of a stream could be identified. In addition, it raises the question of whether the consumption of a stream is illegal under German law. Assuming that this is not…
