Milton D. Rosenau, JR: Successful Project Management

2011

Projektu vadības biroja loma IT uzņēmumu ražošanas procesā

2016

QUALITY ANALYSIS REGARDING ADVERTISEMENTS OF SMALL AND MEDIUM–SIZED ENTERPRISES

2012

The aim of the paper is to determine and analyse the quality of advertisements created by small and medium–sized enterprises (SMEs) of Latvia. SMEs often devote unreasonably little attention to the quality of making an advertisement regardless of the restrictions faced by SMEs in their activity: lack of resources, lack of marketing experience, scope of business activity, as well as tactical and strategic customer–oriented problems. The owners of SMEs do not have the required knowledge and experience in making efficient advertisements, entrepreneurs do not believe in the effect, which may be obtained from marketing communications by laying greater emphasis on other marketing activities and, …

Backoff Hardware Architecture for Inter-FPGA Traffic Management

2017

International audience; Multi-FPGA platforms are considered to be the mostappropriate experimental way to emulate a large Multi-ProcessorSystem-on-Chip based on a Network-on-Chip. However, theuse of a Network-on-Chip in several FPGAs requires inter-FPGA communication links to replace intra-FPGA links betweenrouters. As the ratio of the logic capacity to the number of IOsonly increases slowly with each generation of FPGA, IOs inFPGA are becoming a scare resource. And as there are morerouters than IOs, using a Network-on-Chip requires sharinginter-FPGA links between routers, and sharing an external linkcan lead to bottlenecks. Here, we evaluate the inter-FPGA trafficmanagement using a backoff…

Socially Critical Humor : Discussing Humor with Erich Fromm and Theodor W. Adorno

2017

This article brings Erich Fromm and Theodor W. Adorno back into dialogue by discussing the cultural phenomena of humor and laughter based on their theoretical writings. I argue that what is typically considered socially critical humor, like offensive jokes or harsh satire, often fails to meet the preconditions of criticism in the light of Adorno’s and Fromm’s thinking. Humor, to be socially critical, has to be life-affirmative and non-positional, and it has to challenge the limits of humor. It is also claimed that in this scope, humor cannot be instrumental.

Computer Games and Fine Motor Skills

2012

The study seeks to determine the influence of computer games on fine motor skills in young adults, an area of incomplete understanding and verification. We hypothesized that computer gaming could have a positive influence on basic motor skills, such as precision, aiming, speed, dexterity, or tremor. We examined 30 habitual game users (F/M – 3/27; age range 20–25 years) of the highly interactive game Counter Strike, in which players impersonate soldiers on a battlefield, and 30 age- and gender-matched subjects who declared never to play games. Selected tests from the Vienna Test System were used to assess fine motor skills and tremor. The results demonstrate that the game users scored apprec…

Textbook descriptions of people with psychosis – some ethical aspects

2018

Background:Textbooks are central for the education of professionals in the health field and a resource for practitioners already in the field. Objectives:This article focuses on how 12 textbooks in psychiatric nursing and psychiatry, published in Norway between 1877 and 2012, describe and present people with psychosis.Research design:We used qualitative content analysis.Ethical considerations:The topic is published textbooks, made available to be read by students, teachers and professionals, and no ethical approval was required.Findings:The analysis shows that all 12 textbooks describe and present people who are considered as psychotic from a ‘perspective from above’. Manipulating feedback on schizophrenia: Evidence from a Posner task.

2021

Abstract Individuals with schizophrenia show difficulties in achieving vital objectives. Abnormal behavioral and emotional responses to environmental feedback may be some of the psychological mechanisms underlying this lack of goal attainment in schizophrenia. The present study aims to assess how different types of feedback may affect performance in a computerized affective Posner task (non-monetary vs. monetary rewards; contingent vs. non-contingent feedback). The sample was composed of 32 patients with schizophrenia and 35 controls. Reaction times and error rates were the behavioral measurements. The emotional experience was assessed through self-reported affective scales. The results ind…
