Análisis de conocimientos sobre aulas de comunicación y lenguaje de futuros/as maestros/as.
2021
Early handling effect on female rat spatial and non-spatial learning and memory
2014
This study aims at providing an insight into early handling procedures on learning and memory performance in adult female rats. Early handling procedures were started on post-natal day 2 until 21, and consisted in 15 min, daily separations of the dams from their litters. Assessment of declarative memory was carried out in the novel-object recognition task; spatial learning, reference- and working memory were evaluated in the Morris water maze (MWM). Our results indicate that early handling induced an enhancement in: (1) declarative memory, in the object recognition task, both at 1h and 24h intervals; (2) reference memory in the probe test and working memory and behavioral flexibility in the…
Colour reverse learning and animal personalities: the advantage of behavioural diversity assessed with agent-based simulations
2012
Foraging bees use colour cues to help identify rewarding from unrewarding flowers, but as conditions change, bees may require behavioural flexibility to reverse their learnt preferences. Perceptually similar colours are learnt slowly by honeybees and thus potentially pose a difficult task to reverse-learn. Free-flying honeybees (N = 32) were trained to learn a fine colour discrimination task that could be resolved at ca. 70% accuracy following extended differential conditioning, and were then tested for their ability to reverse-learn this visual problem multiple times. Subsequent analyses identified three different strategies: ‘Deliberative-decisive’ bees that could, after sev…
On the importance of details in arbuscular mycorrhizal research
2015
Most journals require authors to provide sufficient experimental detail in their publications to enable other scientists to reproduce the studies presented. However, my personal experience when reading papers in my research field suggests that many details that could be considered important are commonly overlooked. I analysed the work published during 2013 within the field of arbuscular mycorrhizal ecology, assessing whether 15 important details from 5 fundamental criteria were reported about (1) the experimental treatment, (2) the abiotic growing conditions, (3) the soil nutrient concentrations, (4) the duration of the study and (5) a description of the methodology employed to collect the …
Smart cities approach for Colombian Context. Learning from ITS experiences and linking with government organization
2015
The forecast (world bank) related to the growth of world population tends to be around 9000 million to 2050 and most of the people will live in the cities or in conurbations, this means that, a new approach for support the development of the cities needs to be analyzed. Currently, the mankind has developed and produce a lot of technology advances and many of them are related to the Information and communications technology (ICT). In this way, ICT has become in a key element for the development of the cities, even, introduce the ICT concept in the context of the cities has provoked a new scope for the cities that is called Smart City or Digital City. In this paper, it is presented an approac…
The Relationships Between Local and National Childcare Policies – A Comparison of Nordic and Southern European Cities
2015
We start by comparing the childcare systems in the 11 European cities, looking particularly at whether the childcare provision in these cities follows national provision levels or not. We then focus on analyzing the relationships between local and national childcare policies in four European cities: Bologna (Italy) and Terrassa (Spain) from Southern Europe, and Jyvaskyla (Finland) and Aalborg (Denmark) from the Nordic countries. The availability and use of childcare services are analyzed, as are other factors influencing the possibilities and obstacles of labour market participation for mothers with young children. The aim of this analysis is to demonstrate the significance of local welfare…
Wydatki gmin na usługi opiekuńcze a zmiany demograficzne w Polsce
2020
Local governments as the smallest units of territorial self‑government in Poland are responsible for providing care services. The growing number of the elderly can influence the expenditures level connected with ensuring proper care for them, and it may constitute a growing problem for local government, especially for districts with a lower level of socio‑economic development. In recent years, a quite high increase in benefits amount due to care services and specialist care services has been observed. Therefore, a question arises whether a significant dependence can be observed between the share of the elderly in the population and the degree of local governments’ financial burden due to pr…
Determinants of Access to Academic Careers in France
2010
International audience; The recruitment of young PhD graduates in the academic sector is associated with great uncertainty regarding their potential teaching and research productivity. Thus, in order to recruit the best PhD graduates for permanent positions, employers (universities or research institutions in France) select according to signals sent by the applicants in their curriculum vitae: publications, post-doc position, host research institution.... In our paper, we analyse the factors affecting the access duration to a permanent job in three academic fields in France, using a sample of PhDs graduated in 2001. A discrete-time model, controlling for post-doc participation, is used to a…
Limits and challenges for the participation of migrants' associations in state development policies in Morocco and Mexico
2013
In many developing countries, migrants play an important role by supporting their local communities in their places of origin. An extensive literature has made visible their contribution to local development, thus revealing their involvement in the provision of social services or the construction of infrastructures. In this paper we illustrate the extent and scope of this task and the types of actions that migrants have started up in different countries of the world in general, and the cases of Morocco and Mexico in particular, to examine the achievements and limitations of both states' policies and migrants' associations in regard to their involvement in local development initiatives.
Spillovers from the oil sector to the housing market cycle
2017
We assess the spillovers from the oil sector to the housing market cycle using quarterly data for 20 net oil-exporting and -importing industrial countries, and employing continuous- and discrete-time duration models. We do not uncover a statistically significant difference in the average duration of booms and normal times in the housing markets of those net oil-importers and net oil-exporters. Similarly, the degree of exposure to commodity price fluctuations does not seem to significantly affect the housing market cycle. However, we find that housing booms are shorter when oil prices increase than housing busts when oil prices decrease. We also show that the net oil-importers are more vulne…
