Abstract This paper seeks to analyse the directive on the application of patients’ rights in cross-border healthcare. Two years after the transposition, it is time for first evaluations of its application, performance and perception. The analysis consists of three major elements: reconstruction of the legal scope and subject matter of the new legislation, conclusions of the evaluative reports monitoring its implementation and performance as well as the public opinion polls revealing the EU citizens’ perception of its details. The international human rights treaties recognize the right to life, but most of them do not determine if the unborn is within its scope and what the degree of protection. Given this lack of specificity, the interpretation and application of this fundamental right by its supervisory bodies is particularly important. The analysis of existing case law about it - mainly from Europe - will enable us to contribute to the definition of subjective and objective scope of the protection of the unborn.

We report a study in which dyads use Instant Messaging to agree a preference among a set of three apartments. The information given to participants is partially overlapping, and contains a ''hidden profile'' (HP), such that a single apartment emerges as the best according to an unweighted sum of feature values only if dyad members pool information that is presented to only one of them. The paper aims at proposing a model for the human resources evaluation as regards to a set of skills. Specifically, it starts sfrom the judgments expressed by a team of experts on the basis of their previous working experiences with the resource to be evaluated. Information arising from experts is successively handled by the analyst and aggregated to determine the resource suitability or unsuitability. The effects of task conflict on group effectiveness are far from conclusive. In order to further clarify this relationship, a contingency approach has been suggested. In this context, the present study examines the roles of group potency and information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the relationship between task conflict and team effectiveness. The study involved 44 groups of 4 members each, working in two communication media. Twenty-two groups worked in a face-to-face condition, and the other 22 groups worked in a computer-mediated communication condition. Intention recognition in manufacturing applications

In this article, we present a novel approach to intention recognition, based on the recognition and representation of state information in a cooperative human-robot environment. States are represented by a combination of spatial relations along with cardinal direction information. The output of the Intention Recognition Algorithms will allow a robot to help a human perform a perceived operation or, minimally, not cause an unsafe situation to occur. We compare the results of the Intention Recognition Algorithms to those of an experiment involving human subjects attempting to recognize the same intentions in a manufacturing kitting domain.
