Novel view synthesis for projective texture mapping on real 3D objects

2006

Industrial reproduction, as stereography or lithography, have a lack in texture information, as they only deal with 3D reconstruction. In this paper, we provide a new technique to map texture on real 3D objects, by synthesizing a novel view from two camera images to a projector frame, considered as a camera acting in reverse. No prior information on the pose or the shape of the 3D object is necessary, however hard calibration of the complete system is needed.

Two-dimensional Noncommutative Swanson Model and Its Bicoherent States

2019

We introduce an extended version of the Swanson model, defined on a two-dimensional noncommutative space, which can be diagonalized exactly by making use of pseudo-bosonic operators. Its eigenvalues are explicitly computed and the biorthogonal sets of eigenstates of the Hamiltonian and of its adjoint are explicitly constructed. We also show that it is possible to construct two displacement-like operators from which a family of bi-coherent states can be obtained. These states are shown to be eigenstates of the deformed lowering operators, and their projector allows to produce a suitable resolution of the identity in a dense subspace of \(\mathcal{L}^\mathrm{2}\, (\mathbb{R}^\mathrm{2})\).

3-D shape reconstruction in an active stereo vision system using genetic algorithms

2003

Abstract The recovery of 3-D shape information (depth) using stereo vision analysis is one of the major areas in computer vision and has given rise to a great deal of literature in the recent past. The widely known stereo vision methods are the passive stereo vision approaches that use two cameras. Obtaining 3-D information involves the identification of the corresponding 2-D points between left and right images. Most existing methods tackle this matching task from singular points, i.e. finding points in both image planes with more or less the same neighborhood characteristics. One key problem we have to solve is that we are on the first instance unable to know a priori whether a point in t…

Space partitioning of exchange-correlation functionals with the projector augmented-wave method

2018

We implement a Becke fuzzy cells type space partitioning scheme for the purposes of exchange-correlation within the GPAW projector augmented-wave method based density functional theory code. Space partitioning is needed in the situation where one needs to treat different parts of a combined system with different exchange-correlation functionals. For example, bulk and surface regions of a system could be treated with functionals that are specifically designed to capture the distinct physics of those regions. Here, we use the space partitioning scheme to implement the quasi-nonuniform exchange-correlation scheme, which is a useful practical approach for calculating metallic alloys on the gene…

Determination of the object surface function by structured light: application to the study of spinal deformities.

1999

The projection of structured light is a technique frequently used to determine the surface shape of an object. In this paper, a new procedure is described that efficiently resolves the correspondence between the knots of the projected grid and those obtained on the object when the projection is made. The method is based on the use of three images of the projected grid. In two of them the grid is projected over a flat surface placed, respectively, before and behind the object; both images are used for calibration. In the third image the grid is projected over the object. It is not reliant on accurate determination of the camera and projector pair relative to the grid and object. Once the met…

Projector operators in clustering

2016

In a recent paper, the notion of quantum perceptron has been introduced in connection with projection operators. Here, we extend this idea, using these kind of operators to produce a clustering machine, that is, a framework that generates different clusters from a set of input data. Also, we consider what happens when the orthonormal bases first used in the definition of the projectors are replaced by frames and how these can be useful when trying to connect some noised signal to a given cluster. Preprocessing of region of interest localization based on local surface curvature analysis for three-dimensional reconstruction with multiresolution

2009

We present an approach to integrate a preprocessing step of the region of interest ROI localization into 3-D scanners laser or ste- reoscopic. The definite objective is to make the 3-D scanner intelligent enough to localize rapidly in the scene, during the preprocessing phase, the regions with high surface curvature, so that precise scanning will be done only in these regions instead of in the whole scene. In this way, the scanning time can be largely reduced, and the results contain only per- tinent data. To test its feasibility and efficiency, we simulated the prepro- cessing process under an active stereoscopic system composed of two cameras and a video projector. The ROI localization is…

Camera-based measurement of relative image contrast in projection displays

2013

International audience; This research investigated the measured contrast of projection displays based on pictures taken by un-calibrated digital cameras under typical viewing conditions. A high-end radiometer was employed as a reference to the physical response of projection luminance. Checkerboard, gray scale and color complex test images with a range of the projector's brightness and contrast settings were projected. Two local and two global contrast metrics were evaluated on the acquired pictures. We used contrast surface plots and Pearson correlation to investigate the measured contrast versus the projector's brightness and contrast settings. The results suggested, as expected, the proj…

A Multi-Projector Calibration Method for Virtual Reality Simulators with Analytically Defined Screens

2017

The geometric calibration of projectors is a demanding task, particularly for the industry of virtual reality simulators. Different methods have been developed during the last decades to retrieve the intrinsic and extrinsic parameters of projectors, most of them being based on planar homographies and some requiring an extended calibration process. The aim of our research work is to design a fast and user-friendly method to provide multi-projector calibration on analytically defined screens, where a sample is shown for a virtual reality Formula 1 simulator that has a cylindrical screen. The proposed method results from the combination of surveying, photogrammetry and image processing approac…
