TET2 gene mutation is a frequent and adverse event in chronic myelomonocytic leukemia
2009
Background Acquired somatic deletions and loss-of-function mutations in one or several codons of the TET2 ( Ten-Eleven Translocation-2 ) gene were recently identified in hematopoietic cells from patients with myeloid malignancies, including myeloproliferative disorders and myelodys-plastic syndromes. The present study was designed to determine the prevalence of TET2 gene alterations in chronic myelomonocytic leukemias. Design and Methods Blood and bone marrow cells were collected from 88 patients with chronic phase chronic myelomonocytic leukemia and from 14 with acute transformation of a previously identified disease. Polymerase chain reaction analysis and direct sequencing were used to se…
Incidence of hematologic malignancies in Europe by morphologic subtype: Results of the HAEMACARE project
2010
AbstractChanging definitions and classifications of hematologic malignancies (HMs) complicate incidence comparisons. HAEMACARE classified HMs into groupings consistent with the latest World Health Organization classification and useful for epidemiologic and public health purposes. We present crude, age-specific and age-standardized incidence rates for European HMs according to these groupings, estimated from 66 371 lymphoid malignancies (LMs) and 21 796 myeloid malignancies (MMs) registered in 2000-2002 by 44 European cancer registries, grouped into 5 regions. Age-standardized incidence rates were 24.5 (per 100 000) for LMs and 7.55 for MMs. The commonest LMs were plasma cell neoplasms (4.6…

Validation of response assessment according to international consortium for MDS/MPN criteria in chronic myelomonocytic leukemia treated with hypomethylating agents
Incidence, survival and prevalence of myeloid malignancies in Europe.
2012
Abstract Background The Surveillance of Rare Cancers in Europe (RARECARE) project aims at increasing knowledge of rare cancers in Europe. This manuscript describes the epidemiology of myeloid malignancies (MMs), taking into account the morphological characterisation of these tumours. Methods We used data gathered by RARECARE on cancer patients diagnosed from 1995 to 2002 and archived in 64 European population-based cancer registries, followed up to 31st December 2003 or later. Results The overall annual crude incidence of MMs was 8.6 per 100,000. Acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) were most common, with incidence rates of 3.7 and 3.1 per 100,000 year respec…
CAR-T therapy in solid transplant recipients with post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease: case report and literature review
2021
Patients with postransplant lymphoproliferative disease (PTLD) who are refractory to rituximab-based regimens have extremely poor prognosis. Data is lacking in the setting of solid organ transplantation (SOT)-related PTLD treated with chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy. Moreover, limited information is available on the influence of concomitant immunosuppressive drugs on CAR-T function. Here, we describe the clinical outcome in one PTLD patient and propose a strategy for tailoring immunosuppressive treatment and organ monitoring in patients with kidney allografts after CAR-T infusion. This report also reviews the limited published data in the setting of SOT-related PTLD treated…
Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder in adult renal transplant recipients: case series and review of literature
2021
Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) is serious life-threating complication of transplantation. The clinical picture differs from lymphomas observed in the general population, with different manifestation, histopathology, higher aggressiveness with involvement of sites beyond the primary lymph node, and poorer outcome. The objective of the study was to present nine cases of PTLD observed in our centre among the kidney transplant recipient population and discuss the results with up-to-date literature. We performed a retrospective single-centre assessment of PTLD incidence in the cohorts of kidney transplant recipients followed by our centre. We found nine cases of PTLD, five m…
