Pure donation or hybrid donation crowdfunding

2019

PurposeDespite the growing research exploring the possibility and feasibility of financing socially oriented projects through crowdfunding, relatively little research examines which crowdfunding model is better to serve such purpose. The purpose of this paper is to offer novel insights to mitigate this research gap.Design/methodology/approachA unique data set collected from the largest Chinese crowdfunding platform is used to test the hypotheses. To solve the perceived self-selection problem, the propensity score matching method is adopted in this paper. Based on this approach, the results of similar prosocial campaigns in two different models (pure donation and hybrid donation) are compare…

Eco depletion: The impact of hunger on prosociality by means of environmentally friendly attitudes and behavior

2021

Abstract The present research investigated the impact of hunger on prosociality in a consumer choice context by means of environmentally friendly attitudes and behavior. Two eye-tracking studies were conducted with hunger measured (Study 1) and manipulated (Study 2). The data were analyzed through bivariate correlations, Pearson's chi-square tests, and analyses of variance (ANOVAs). Our findings, based on cross-sectional and experimental evidence from field and lab settings, revealed that hungry consumers express more prosocial attitudes than their satiated counterparts in terms of general environmental concerns and importance ratings of buying eco-labeled products. However, we found no sig…

Patterns of Psychological Responses among the Public during the Early Phase of COVID-19: A Cross-Regional Analysis

2021

This study aimed to compare the mediation of psychological flexibility, prosociality and coping in the impacts of illness perceptions toward COVID-19 on mental health among seven regions. Convenience sampled online survey was conducted between April and June 2020 from 9130 citizens in 21 countries. Illness perceptions toward COVID-19, psychological flexibility, prosociality, coping and mental health, socio-demographics, lockdown-related variables and COVID-19 status were assessed. Results showed that psychological flexibility was the only significant mediator in the relationship between illness perceptions toward COVID-19 and mental health across all regions (all ps = 0.001–0.021). Seeking …

Intersexual competition among humans: prosocial towards the opposite sex and proself towards the same sex?

2017

In a research conducted on a sample of participants from three countries (N = 256): Poland, Ukraine and Denmark, a hypothesis of the moderating impact of other person sex on the level of social value orientation of men and women was tested. The study applied the now rarely used method of measuring social value orientation: the Warsaw Method, which was expected to reveal more subtle differences between men and women than those observed in the studies using the most popular social value orientation measurement tools, such as decomposed games. The direction of the observed relationship proved to be compatible with the predictions resulting from the phenomenon of intrasexual competition for a p…

Prosociālas uzvedības motivācijas saistība ar morālo identitāti brīvprātīgā darba veicējiem

2021

Respondenti aizpildīja aptauju, kura sastāvēja no Brīvprātīgā darba funkciju aptaujas (Volunteer functions inventory; Clary et al., 1998 – aptauja tika adaptēta pētījuma ietvaros) un Morālās identitātes nozīmības skalas (The self-importance of moral identity scale; Aquino & Reed, 200…

What should i do and who's to blame?

2022

The COVID-19 crisis has had a major impact on youth. This study examined factors associated with youth’s attitudes towards their government’s response to the pandemic and their blaming of individuals from certain risk groups, ethnic backgrounds, and countries or regions. In a sample of 5,682 young adults (Mage = 22) from 14 countries, lower perceived burden due to COVID-19, more collectivistic and less individualistic values, and more empathy were associated with more positive attitudes towards the government and less blaming of individuals of certain groups. Youth’s social identification with others in the pandemic mediated these associations in the same direction, apart from the COVID-19 …

An investigation of Facebook users' implicit associations between Facebook, sexual and prosocial behavior.

2018

Abstract Despite growing research on online social networking, implicit associations of Facebook users have been largely understudied. In Study 1, we used the Single-Target Implicit Association Test (ST-IAT; Karpinski and Steinman, 2006) in order to assess implicit associations between Facebook and two evolutionary relevant constructs: sexual and prosocial behavior. Additionally, we controlled for the role of participant's relationship status as a potential moderator of Facebook implicit associations. In Study 2, we extended these findings and explored the relationship between implicit and explicit associations towards Facebook. Across two studies, we found that Facebook is more strongly as…

La agresividad auto y heteroevaluada: variables implicadas [Self and heteroinform aggression: involved variables]

2006

The infantile and juvenile aggressiveness is considered to be a complex phenomenon, with multiple factors that contribute to different aggressive manifestations. For all this, this phenomenon has been an object of many investigations, which have the aim to understand the basic mechanisms that cause and regulate these behaviors (Eron y Huesmann, 1984; Caprara y Pastorelli, 1989, 1993, 1996; Bandura, Barbaranelli, Caprara, Pastorelli, y Regalia 2001; Caprara, Barbaranelli, Pastorelli, Bandura, y Zimbardo, 2001). This work tries to analyze the aggressive behavior and the implied processes. We have evaluated the emotional instability (IE, Caprara & Pastorelli, 1993; Del Barrio, Moreno & Lopez, …
