Abstract Objectives Insulin resistance (IR) is a hallmark of type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM). The homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) provides an estimate for IR from fasting glucose and insulin serum concentrations. The aim of this study was to obtain a reference interval for HOMA-IR for a specific insulin immunoassay. PURPOSE: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an extremely prevalent disorder in which elevated blood markers of cardiovascular risk and altered endothelial function have been found. OBJECTIVE We explored the impact of lifelong cumulative HIV viremia on immunological recovery during antiretroviral therapy, according to the timing of treatment initiation. METHODS We estimated lifelong cumulative HIV viremia in patients followed in the ANRS PRIMO cohort since primary infection, including 244 patients who started treatment during PHI and had at least one treatment interruption, and 218 patients who started treatment later but with no interruptions. Combinations of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of wild-type genotype of influx transporters (SLC22A16, SLCO1B1) and homozygous variant genotypes of ABC polymorphisms (ABCB1, ABCC1, ABCC2, ABCG2) were evaluated in 225 adult de novo AML patients. We investigated 100 cases of oral squamous cell carcinomas immunohistologically with respect to the expression of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA). The results were correlated with a new malignancy grading of the invasive tumour areas and the clinical outcome of the patients to estimate the individual prognosis. In conclusion, the amount of antigen expression of both antigens increases with the increasing grade of malignancy of the oral squamous cell carcinoma.
