Quality Schemes Regulation

2014

As it was discussed in the previous chapter, the EU direct protection system covers IGOs in relation to agricultural products and foodstuffs and is divided in four parts each of them being regulated in a separate legal act in the form of a regulation. Due to that regulatory approach, each of these separate regulations will be discussed separately in this and the next three chapters. This chapter examines the Quality Schemes Regulation covering, inter alia, IGOs in relation to agricultural products and foodstuffs except spirits (examined in Chap. 7), wine sector products (Chap. 8), and aromatised wines (Chap. 9) (hereinafter all these types of goods (products) referred to as agricultural pro…

Child Protection in Mediterranean Countries: Italy and Greece

2023

Abstract This chapter explores the child protection systems in Italy and Greece. Both countries have to deal with immigrant children due to the conflict between the rights of minors and immigration laws on control and defense. In Italy, the child protection system is the result of a patchwork of norms and regulations addressing different societal demands and pressures. Family and cash-transfers are fundamental factors in Italy’s child welfare system. Greece, on the other hand, has adopted fragmented measures and policies connected with financial benefits, income support, social security, social care for disabled people, and rehabilitation for children at risk. The chapter also notes how the…

Adolescentes del África Occidental: motivaciones y reflexiones del proceso migratorio. Un análisis comparado

2021

An Approach for the Evaluation of Risk Impact of Changes Addressing Uncertainties in a Surveillance Requirement Optimization Context

2014

This paper presents an approach for the evaluation of risk impact of Surveillance Requirement changes addressing identification, treatment and analysis of uncertainties in an integrated manner, which is intended to be used in an optimization context. It is also presented an example of application of the methodology to study a SF change of the Reactor Protection System of a Nuclear Power Plant.

SISTEMI DI CORONAMENTO E SMALTIMENTO DELLE ACQUE METEORICHE : LA REGOLA DELL'ARTE DAI TRATTATI AI MANUALI

2018

European Collective Mark

2014

Previous chapters of Part II dealt with the protection of IGOs at the EU level, i.e. IGOs as unitary rights, through the direct protection system. However, protection of IGOs at the EU level may be ensured not only through the direct protection system, but also through trade mark protection system, namely, through protection as a Community collective mark. That protection is ensured by the Codifying Community Trade Mark Regulation, namely Title VIII containing Arts. 66–74 (previously—Arts. 64–72 of the Community Trade Mark Regulation). From the point of view of the territorial scope, Community collective mark differs from national collective marks of EU Member States. Generally trade mark l…

Growth, Yield and Fruit Quality of 'Peluche' Loquat under Windbreak Nets.

2011

The advantages of protecting 6-year-old ‘Peluche’ loquat trees (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.) with nets were investigated in Sicily. Vegetative and reproductive growth were measured on 20 trees under net protection and 20 in open field conditions. A neutral, 50% windbreak net (yielding 70% of light penetration) was positioned around the field and above trees to cut down wind action and other occasional extreme atmospheric phenomena. Side openings were left on the nets to provide the entrance for pollinators. Compared to trees in the open field, trees under nets showed increased vigor (trunk cross-sectional area) and fruit growth (relative growth rate), and higher yields due also to larger fru…

DEVELOPMENT ANALYSIS OF SMART DISTRIBUTION GRIDS IN PRESENCE OF DISTRIBUTED GENERATION

The integration of distributed generation (DG) units in power distribution network has become increasingly attractive multi-faceted paradigm as economic and environmental factors drive new technologies to be more efficient and less polluting than their earlier counterparts. The installation of DGs impacts critically on the planning and operating characteristics of the distribution network. Type, location, number and capacity of DG are essential factors for studying the effect of DGs on the system behavior. Some possibilities to handle grid planning and operating issues are addressed in this thesis. Firstly, the effect of DG on the power losses of a distribution network is introduced and the…

Unaccompanied minors: a route of childhood along Mediterranean sea

2017

In the last ten years, Mediterranean sea, seen from the island of Sicily has been a big scenery for the arrival of thousands of people from Africa, in particular from the area of Maghreb (Egypt, Tunisia, etc) and also from the Sub-Saharian area such as Gambia, Guinea, Mali and so on.
