Modificētu enzīmu dizains proteīnu deglikācijai
2022
Changes in tubulin protein expression accompany reorganization of microtubular arrays during cell shaping in barley leaves
1998
Barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) leaves grow from the base and thus exhibit a smooth developmental gradient. Developing mesophyll cells acquire their typical lobed shape synchronously along this gradient. Successive changes in the patterns of cortical microtubules are involved in the shaping process. The changes include formation and dispersal of band-like structures, the establishment of a random network and a dramatic loss of microtubules after completion of cell shaping. When the relative tubulin contents were determined in consecutive segments taken along the leaf, two tubulin maxima were found. They coincided with the establishment of the microtubular bands and the random network, respectiv…
Identification of Critical Genes for Growth in Olive Brine by Transposon Mutagenesis of Lactobacillus pentosus C11
2013
ABSTRACT Olive brine represents a stressful environment due to the high NaCl concentration, presence of phenolic compounds known as antimicrobials, and low availability of nutrients. Thus, only a few strains of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) are adapted to grow in and ferment table olives. To identify the mechanisms by which these few strains are able to grow in olive brine, Lactobacillus pentosus C11, a particularly resistant strain isolated from naturally fermented table olives, was mutagenized by random transposition using the P junc -TpaseIS 1223 system (H. Licandro-Seraut, S. Brinster, M. van de Guchte, H. Scornec, E. Maguin, P. Sansonetti, J. F. Cavin, and P. Serror, Appl. Environ. Microb…
Mechanisms of protein expression in the rat optic nerve: Modifications by alcohol exposure
2005
Differential apolipoprotein(a) isoform expression in heterozygosity is an independent contributor to lipoprotein(a) levels variability
2003
Abstract Background and methods : Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] levels represent an independent risk factor for cardio- and cerebrovascular diseases. Since lipoprotein(a) levels show a wide variability even in subjects with similar apolipoprotein(a) isoforms, we investigated the contribution of apolipoprotein(a) heterozygosity to lipoprotein(a) variance. Lipoprotein(a) levels, apolipoprotein(a) isoforms identification and expression, and the correlation with other lipo-apolipoprotein parameters have been investigated in 628 subjects >18 years of age. Results : In our study, 246 subjects were found heterozygous for apolipoprotein(a) isoforms. Lipoprotein(a) levels were higher in females. About 40% …
Rational Design of a Carrier Protein for the Production of Recombinant Toxic Peptides in Escherichia coli
2016
Commercial uses of bioactive peptides require low cost, effective methods for their production. We developed a new carrier protein for high yield production of recombinant peptides in Escherichia coli very well suited for the production of toxic peptides like antimicrobial peptides. GKY20, a short antimicrobial peptide derived from the C-terminus of human thrombin, was fused to the C-terminus of Onconase, a small ribonuclease (104 amino acids), which efficiently drove the peptide into inclusion bodies with very high expression levels (about 200-250 mg/L). After purification of the fusion protein by immobilized metal ion affinity chromatography, peptide was obtained by chemical cleavage in d…

Expression and developmental regulation of the cystine/glutamate exchanger (xc-) in the rat.
2007
The cystine/glutamate exchanger (antiporter x c − ) is a membrane transporter involved in the uptake of cystine, the rate-limiting amino acid in the synthesis of glutathione. Recent studies suggest that the antiporter plays a role in the slow oxidative excitotoxity and in the pathological effects of β-N-oxalylamino-l-alanine, the molecule responsible for neurolathyrism, a neurotoxic upper motor neuron disease. The mouse cystine/glutamate exchanger has been cloned and showed to be composed of two distinct proteins, one of which being a novel protein, named xCT, of 502 amino acids and 12 putative trans-membrane domains. We have generated and purified a polyclonal antibody to mouse xCT and stu…
Co-expression of CD133+/CD44+in human colon cancer and liver metastasis
2013
Although relatively good therapeutic results are achieved in non-advanced cancer, the prognosis of the advanced colon cancer still remains poor, dependent on local or distant recurrence of the disease. One of the factors responsible for recurrence is supposed to be cancer stem cells (CSCs) or tumor-initiating cells, which are a population of cancer cells with ability to perpetuate themselves through self-renewal and to generate differentiated cells, thought to be responsible for tumor recurrence. This study globally approach the possible role of tissue-derived stem cells in the initiation of colon cancer and its metastatic process in the liver. Fresh surgical specimens from colon cancer, no…
Data set of the protein expression profiles of Luminal A, Claudin-low and overexpressing HER2+ breast cancer cell lines by iTRAQ labelling and tandem…
2015
Breast cancer is the most common and the leading cause of mortality in women worldwide. There is a dire necessity of the identification of novel molecules useful in diagnosis and prognosis. In this work we determined the differentially expression profiles of four breast cancer cell lines compared to a control cell line. We identified 1020 polypeptides labelled with iTRAQ with more than 95% in confidence. We analysed the common proteins in all breast cancer cell lines through IPA software (IPA core and Biomarkers). In addition, we selected the specific overexpressed and subexpressed proteins of the different molecular classes of breast cancer cell lines, and classified them according to prot…
