Evaluation of prostate segmentation algorithms for MRI: The PROMISE12 challenge
2014
Contains fulltext : 137969.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Open Access) Prostate MRI image segmentation has been an area of intense research due to the increased use of MRI as a modality for the clinical workup of prostate cancer. Segmentation is useful for various tasks, e.g. to accurately localize prostate boundaries for radiotherapy or to initialize multi-modal registration algorithms. In the past, it has been difficult for research groups to evaluate prostate segmentation algorithms on multi-center, multi-vendor and multi-protocol data. Especially because we are dealing with MR images, image appearance, resolution and the presence of artifacts are affected by differences in scanners and/or …
Cell population analysis of the adult murine subependymal neurogenic lineage by flow cytometry
2021
Summary This protocol provides a flow-cytometry-based procedure to classify and isolate all cells of the adult rodent subependymal zone (SEZ) neurogenic lineage, without the need for reporter mice, into different cell populations, including three neural stem cell (NSC) fractions with molecular signatures that are coherent with single-cell transcriptomics. Additionally, their cycling behavior can be assessed by means of 5-ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine (EdU) incorporation. Our method allows the isolation of different NSC fractions and the functional assay of their cycling heterogeneity and quiescence-activation transitions. For complete details on the use, execution, and outcomes of this protocol, …

Efficacy of a blended low-intensity internet-delivered psychological programme in patients with multimorbidity in primary care: study protocol for a …
2019
BackgroundThe World Health Organization (WHO) has included comorbidity between depression and a chronic disease among the 10 leading global health priorities. Although there is a high prevalence of multimorbidity, health care systems are mainly designed for the management of individual diseases. Given the difficulty in delivering face-to-face psychological treatments, alternative models of treatment delivery have been proposed, emphasizing the role of technologies such as the Internet. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacy in Primary Care (PC) of a blended low-intensity psychological intervention applied using information and communication technologies (ICTs) for the treatment of …
Comparison of two doses of intravenous temsirolimus in patients with relapsed/refractory mantle cell lymphoma
2018
Temsirolimus 175 mg once-weekly for 3 weeks, followed by 75 mg once-weekly intravenously dosed (175/75 mg) is approved in the European Union for treatment of relapsed/refractory mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). A phase IV study explored whether similar efficacy, but improved safety could be achieved with 75 mg without 175 mg loading doses (ClinicaTrials.gov: NCT01180049). Patients with relapsed/refractory MCL were randomized to once-weekly temsirolimus 175/75 mg (n = 47) or 75 mg (n = 42). Treatment continued until objective disease progression. Primary endpoint: progression-free survival (PFS). Secondary endpoints included overall survival (OS) and adverse events (AEs). Median PFS was 4.3 versu…
Changes in myocardial iron content following administration of intravenous iron (Myocardial‐IRON): Study design
2018
Treatment with intravenous ferric carboxymaltose (FCM) has been shown to improve symptoms, functional capacity, and quality of life in patients with heart failure and iron deficiency. However, the underlying mechanisms for these beneficial effects remain undetermined. The aim of this study is to quantify cardiac magnetic resonance changes in myocardial iron content after administration of intravenous FCM in patients with heart failure and iron deficiency and contrast them with parameters of heart failure severity. This is a multicenter, double-blind, randomized study. Fifty patients with stable symptomatic heart failure, left ventricular ejection fraction <50%, and iron deficiency will be r…
Folfirinox in elderly patients with pancreatic or colorectal cancer-tolerance and efficacy
2016
AIM To study the tolerance and the efficiency of FOLFIRINOX in elderly patients diagnosed with colorectal or pancreatic cancer. METHODS This retrospective study included elderly patients aged over 70 years of age treated at Georges-Francois Leclerc Center by FOLFIRINOX for histological proved colorectal or pancreatic cancer between January 2009 and January 2015. Chemotheapy regimen consisted of oxaliplatin (85 mg/m(2) in over 120 min) followed by leucovorin (400 mg/m(2) in over 120 min), with the addition, after 30 min of irinotecan (180 mg/m(2) in over 90 min) then 5 fluorouracil (5FU) (400 mg/m(2) administred intravenous bolus), followed by 5FU (2400 mg/m2 intraveinous infusion over 46 h)…
Prediction of leukocyte counts during paediatric acute lymphoblastic leukaemia maintenance therapy
2019
Maintenance chemotherapy with oral 6-mercaptopurine and methotrexate remains a cornerstone of modern therapy for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. The dosage and intensity of therapy are based on surrogate markers such as peripheral blood leukocyte and neutrophil counts. Dosage based leukocyte count predictions could provide support for dosage decisions clinicians face trying to find and maintain an appropriate dosage for the individual patient. We present two Bayesian nonlinear state space models for predicting patient leukocyte counts during the maintenance therapy. The models simplify some aspects of previously proposed models but allow for some extra flexibility. Our second model is an ext…
Combination chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin and vincristine in the treatment of stage III-IV small-cell lung cancer.
1989
SummaryTwenty patients with histologically confirmed small-cell lung cancer were treated with cyclophosphamide 1000 mg/m2 i.v. on day 1, vincristine 1.4 mg/m2 i.v. day 1, and adriamycin 50 mg/m2 i.v. on day 1. This protocol was repeated every 21 days. Out of 17 evaluable patients 2 obtained a complete response (12%) with a mean duration of 11 months, 4 patients achieved a partial response with a mean duration of 6.3 + months, and 1 had a minimal response of 7.2 months. Two patients had a stabilization which lasted a mean of 4 + months, while 8 patients progressed. Although the mean survival was higher in responders than in non-responders, the difference in survival time was not statisticall…
Metronomic oral cyclophosphamide prednisolone chemotherapy is an effective treatment for metastatic hormone-refractory prostate cancer after docetaxe…
2010
There is currently no standard of treatment for patients with hormone refractory prostate cancer (HRPC) after failure of docetaxel-based chemotherapy. The purpose of this study was to assess the anticancer activity and tolerance of metronomic cyclophosphamide prednisolone combination in this setting. From 2005 to 2010, patients with HRPC who failed at least docetaxel-based chemotherapy were proposed metronomic cyclophosphamide-prednisolone regimen, and were prospectively registered. Twenty-three patients received 50 mg cyclophosphamide and 10 mg prednisolone per os daily until disease progression. Treatment tolerance and efficacy on PSA decrease and pain were studied.Metronomic cyclophospham…
