Measurement of the beam-helicity asymmetry in photoproduction of π0η pairs on carbon, aluminum, and lead
2020
The beam-helicity asymmetry was measured, for the first time, in photoproduction of $\pi^{0}\eta$ pairs on carbon, aluminum, and lead, with the A2 experimental setup at MAMI. The results are compared to an earlier measurement on a free proton and to the corresponding theoretical calculations. The Mainz model is used to predict the beam-helicity asymmetry for the nuclear targets. The present results indicate that the photoproduction mechanism for $\pi^{0}\eta$ pairs on nuclei is similar to photoproduction on a free nucleon. This process is dominated by the $D_{33}$ partial wave with the $\eta\Delta(1232)$ intermediate state.
Measurements of $R^{d}-R^{p}$ and $R^{Ca}-R^{C}$ in deep inelastic muon scattering
1992
Results are presented on the difference in R, the ratio of longitudinally to transversely polarised virtual photon absorption cross sections, for the deuteron and the proton. They are obtained by c ...
ESR response of watch glasses to proton beams
2010
In this paper we have analyzed the electron spin resonance (ESR) signal of watch glasses irradiated with %60 MeV proton beams in the dose range between 1 and 105 Gy. The composition of samples expressed in oxides weight percentages has been obtained carrying out X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF) mea- surements. The ESR signal has been studied in terms of its dependence on microwave power and modulation field in order to choose the optimal recording parameters. The dependence of the radioinduced signal on the exposure dose has been investigated. A numerical procedure aimed at improving the sensitivity in the low dose range has been developed.
SEE on Different Layers of Stacked-SRAMs
2015
International audience; This paper presents heavy-ion and proton radiation test results of a 90 nm COTS SRAM with stacked structure. Radiation tests were made using high penetration heavy-ion cocktails at the HIF (Belgium) and at RADEF (Finland) as well as low energy protons at RADEF. The heavy-ion SEU cross-section showed an unusual profile with a peak at the lowest LET (heavy-ion with the highest penetration range). The discrepancy is due to the fact that the SRAM is constituted of two vertically stacked dice. The impact of proton testing on the response of both stacked dice is presented. The results are discussed and the SEU cross-sections of the upper and lower layers are compared. The …
Measurement of the cross section for top-quark pair production in pp collisions at √s = 7TeV with the ATLAS detector using final states with two high…
2012
A measurement is reported of the production cross section of top-quark pairs (tt¯) in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the LHC. Candidate events have a signature consistent with containing two isolated leptons, large missing transverse momentum, and at least two jets. Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 0.70 fb−1, a tt¯ production cross section σtt¯=176±5(stat.)+14−11(syst.)±8(lum.) pb is measured for an assumed top-quark mass of mt = 172.5 GeV. This measurement is in good agreement with Standard Model predictions.
Search for charged Higgs bosons through the violation of lepton universality in t(t)over-bar events using pp collision data at root s=7 TeV with the …
2013
In several extensions of the Standard Model, the top quark can decay into a bottom quark and a light charged Higgs boson H [superscript +], t → bH [superscript +], in addition to the Standard Model decay t → bW. Since W bosons decay to the three lepton generations equally, while H [superscript +] may predominantly decay into τν, charged Higgs bosons can be searched for using the violation of lepton universality in top quark decays. The analysis in this paper is based on 4.6 fb[superscript −1] of proton-proton collision data at √s = 7 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Signatures containing leptons (e or μ) and/or a hadronically decaying τ (τ [subscript had])…
Search for right-handed W bosons in top quark decay
2005
We present a measurement of the fraction f+ of right-handed W bosons produced in top quark decays, based on a candidate sample of $t\bar{t}$ events in the lepton+jets decay mode. These data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 230pb^-1, collected by the DO detector at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ Collider at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. We use a constrained fit to reconstruct the kinematics of the $t\bar{t}$ and decay products, which allows for the measurement of the leptonic decay angle $\theta^*$ for each event. By comparing the $\cos\theta^*$ distribution from the data with those for the expected background and signal for various values of f+, we find f+=0.00+-0.13(stat)+-0.07(syst). This …
Azimuthal harmonics of color fields in a high energy nucleus
2015
Recent experimental results have revealed a surprisingly rich structure of multiparticle azimuthal correlations in high energy proton-nucleus collisions. Final state collective effects can be responsible for many of the observed effects, but it has recently been argued that a part of these correlations are present already in the wavefunctions of the colliding particles. We evaluate the momentum space 2-particle cumulant azimuthal anisotropy coefficients v_n{2}, n=2,3,4 from fundamental representation Wilson line distributions describing the high energy nucleus. These would correspond to the flow coefficients in very forward proton nucleus scattering. We find significant differences beteen W…
A predictive model for the electronic stopping force for molecular dynamic simulation (I)
2010
Abstract We have examined a predictive model for the electronic stopping force (dE/dx)e to be used in the classical molecular dynamic (MD) simulation. The essential term (dE/dx)proton of (dE/dx)e is based on the Lindhard–Winther theory, while the effective charge follows the Brandt–Kitagawa model. The (dE/dx)proton term is expressed by the electron local density ρ(r) defined by the Muffin-tin model and the Hartree–Fock–Slater approximation. This model had been proposed to explain the impact-parameter dependence of (dE/dx)e for channeling ions passing through a semiconductor. Here the energy dependence of the averaged 〈dE/dx〉e after thin-film transmission was examined, where the electron–pho…
Spectroscopic factor and proton formation probability for the d3/2 proton emitter 151Lu
2017
The quenching of the experimental spectroscopic factor for proton emission from the short-lived $d_{3/2}$ isomeric state in $^{151m}$Lu was a long-standing problem. In the present work, proton emission from this isomer has been reinvestigated in an experiment at the Accelerator Laboratory of the University of Jyv\"{a}skyl\"{a}. The proton-decay energy and half-life of this isomer were measured to be 1295(5) keV and 15.4(8) $\mu$s, respectively, in agreement with another recent study. These new experimental data can resolve the discrepancy in the spectroscopic factor calculated using the spherical WKB approximation. Using the R-matrix approach it is found that the proton formation probabilit…
