A macrocyclic diurea derived from diphenylether
2010
Abstract A new 16-membered cyclic diurea was synthesized and tested as potential receptor for fluoride. 1 H and 19 F NMR spectroscopy revealed an unexpected deprotonation of both urea groups after initial 1:1 binding. A single crystal X-ray structure shows bifurcated hydrogen bonds to two DMSO molecules.
Synthesis and characterization of a new spirooxindole grafted pyrrolidino/piperidine moiety
2021
In this text, we synthesized and characterized a new spirooxindole grafted pyrrolidino/piperidine moieties. The new hit obtained via one-pot reaction of the chalcone based cyclohexanone with the isatin and (R)-piperidine-2-carboxylic acid in MeOH under reflux for 48 h. The compound exclusively obtained in regio-selective and diastereo-selective manner. The chemical feature of the target compound is confirmed by 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectroscopy. In addition, we reported for the first time the X-ray single crystal structure of isatin. Its molecular packing depends mainly on strong O…H hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking interactions as well as weak H…H and H…C contacts. Using DFT calculations, is…
A resorcinol derived calix[5]arene with C5-symmetry
1994
Abstract Condensation of 2,4-dihydroxy-3-hydroxymethyl benzophenone (4) in dioxane/H2SO4 gave the cyclic pentamer 5, a calix[5]arene with regular incorporation of the resorcinol units via their 2- and 6-positions. The structure follows from the 1H NMR and mass spectra and was further confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis. Dynamic NMR in C2D2Cl4 gave a surprisingly high barrier of ΔG‡ = 17.3 kcal/mol for the cone-to-cone ring inversion.
Substituent effects on the gas-phase basicities of4-x-acetophanes and 4-x-2,6-dimethylacetophenones: a comparison with solution basicities
1997
Abstract The behaviour towards gas-phase protonation of a series of 2,6-dimethyl-4-X-acetophenones DM1 exhibits strong similarities with that of the corresponding 4-X-acetophenones 1 . A comparison with previous basicity data in solution and AM1 semiempirical calculations suggest that the X-dependent rotation of the probe group out of the plane of the aromatic ring caused by the two ortho methyls is of minor importance in influencing the substituent effect on the gas-phase basicity of DM1 ; on the contrary, it could heavily affect the solvatability and thus be responsible for the observed behaviour of DM1 in strongly acidic media.
A Theoretical Study of the Reaction between Cyclopentadiene and Protonated Imine Derivatives: A Shift from a Concerted to a Stepwise Molecular Mecha…
2001
The reaction between cyclopentadiene and protonated pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde imine derivatives has been studied by using Hartree-Fock (HF) and B3LYP methods together with the 6-31G basis set. The molecular mechanism is stepwise along an inverted energy profile. This results from the protonation on both nitrogen atoms of the imine group and the pyridine framework. The first step corresponds to the nucleophilic attack of cyclopentadiene on the electron-poor carbon atom of the iminium cation group to give an acyclic cation intermediate, and the second step is associated with the ring closure of this intermediate via the formation of a C-N single bond yielding the final cycloadduct. Two reacti…
Substituent and temperature controlled tautomerism: Multinuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray, and theoretical studies on 2-phenacylquinolines
2000
Proton-transfer equilibria in chloroform solution of twelve 2-phenacylquinolines were studied by 1H, 13C and 15N NMR spectroscopies. The (Z)-enaminone form stabilized by an intramolecular hydrogen bond was found to prevail in all cases. Electron-donating substituents in the phenacyl part of the molecule lead to an increase of the ketimine form (to 33% for p-NMe2). Variable temperature 1H NMR measurements show that higher temperatures have the same effect. The negative logarithm values of the equilibrium constant, pKT, were found to be linearly dependent on Hammett σ substituent constants. The pKTvs. temperature correlation also has a linear character. In general, strong electron-withdrawing…
Cyclocondensation of alpha-aminonitriles and enones: a short access to 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrrole 2-carbonitriles and 2,3,5-trisubstituted pyrroles.
2009
The reaction of alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds with aminoacetonitrile hydrochloride furnishes 3,5-disubstituted 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrrole-2-carbonitriles in a one-pot reaction sequence. While these products can serve as starting materials for the preparation of polysubstituted pyrrolizidines, they are kinetically stable against the base-induced elimination of HCN. In contrast, their 2-substituted analogues obtained from alpha-substituted alpha-aminonitriles can be readily converted to the corresponding 2,3,5-trisubstituted pyrroles under microwave irradiation. The key step presumably involves the thermal electrocyclization of a stabilized 2-azapentadienyl anion formed by condensatio…
Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Polysubstituted 4-Quinolones from Deprotonated α-Aminonitriles
2010
The α-alkylation of deprotonated N-aryl-α-aminonitriles with α-bromoesters furnishes intermediates that can be cyclized to 4-quinolones upon microwave irradiation. Alternatively, base-induced dehydrocyanation of the alkylation products furnishes enaminoesters, which can, for example, be converted into quinoline-3-carboxylates.
One-Pot Synthesis of (±)-Crispine A and Its C-Ring-Substituted Analogs
2006
A straightforward access to crispine A and C-ring-substituted analogs by 1,4-addition of a deprotonated α-amino nitrile to α,β-unsaturated carbonyl compounds is described. If the reduction step is omitted, substituted 5,6-dihydropyrrolo[2,1-a]isoquinolines can be obtained. (© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2006)
