Problem Transformation Methods with Distance-Based Learning for Multi-Target Regression

Multi-target regression is a special subset of supervised machine learning problems. Problem transformation methods are used in the field to improve the performance of basic methods. The purpose of this article is to test the use of recently popularized distance-based methods, the minimal learning machine (MLM) and the extreme minimal learning machine (EMLM), in problem transformation. The main advantage of the full data variants of these methods is the lack of any meta-parameter. The experimental results for the MLM and EMLM show promising potential, emphasizing the utility of the problem transformation especially with the EMLM. peerReviewed

A well-functioning social network involves attributes such as honesty, benevolence, fairness and confidence. When this network – trust - has formed, participants can count on reliable and consistent economic transactions. This has the effect of higher level of co-operation, but also co-dependence. Strong social networks, as measured in this study by the degree of interpersonal trust and trust in institutions, are foundational elements for societies wishing to progress to new higher levels of entrepreneurship and development. In this article, the research topic is to develop an evaluation model for social work with substance abusers. It is studied by presenting an example of how the evaluation process could be carried out in practice. The study has been implemented with the Department of Social Services and Health Care’s Centre for Recovering Substance Abusers in Finland (RSA Centre). The term “evaluation model” refers to a way of collecting client follow-up information and the way the information is used to develop social work practices. Šis diplomdarbs pēta pirms lasīšanas uzdevumu ietekmi uz vārdu krājuma paplašināšanu un lasīšanas izpratni. Tā mērķis ir izstrādāt pirms lasīšanas papildu uzdevumus un izpētīt, kā tie veicina skolēnu sasniegumus vārdu krājuma uzlabošanā. Teorētiskā daļa ir vērsta uz teorijām par ciešu savstarpējo saistību starp lasīšanu un vārdu krājuma pārzināšanu. Empīriskā daļa apraksta gadījumu izpētes rezultātus. Datu vākšanas rīki parādīja priekšrocības, ko sniedz papildu pirms lasīšanas pasākumi studentu grupām, kas bija iesaistītas eksperimentā, salīdzinot ar studentiem, kuri izmantoja tikai mācību grāmatu materiālus. Tarkastelen artikkelissani kokoelman omistushistoriaa soveltaen provenance-lähestymistapaa.
