Studies on the subcellular pathophysiology of acute lethal cell injury.

1974

Summary In this paper we have summarized the effects of acute lethal injury on the cell. Such injuries are defined as injuries that result in cell death within a relatively short period of time usually minutes or hours. Following death; the cell undergoes necrosis. Ultrastructural and biochemical methods are needed to study pathophysiology. The cell passes through a series of stages numbered 1 through 7. Stages 1 through 4 are reversible while 5 through 7 are irreversible. Injuries resulting in acute cell death and necrosis include direct damage to the cell membrane, for example by antibody and complement or non-penetrating mercurials or interference with mitochondrial energy supply as in i…

About the finite convergence of the proximal point algorithm

1988

We study the finite convergence property of the proximal point algorithm applied to the partial inverse, with respect to a subspace, of the subdifferential of a polyhedral convex function. Using examples we show how sufficient conditions providing the finite convergence can be realized and we give a case with non finite termination.

Biomech…

2003

In this article a new measuring system for biomechanical studies of various osteosynthesis procedures on the tibia is described. The paired tibias are osteotomized and embedded in PMMA in accordance with a randomization protocol. Testing is then carried out under nonaxial loading at 350 N, 600 N and 900 N, uniaxial bending applying a force of 12 Nm, and torsion at a force of 5 Nm in a universal pneumatic testing machine. Ultrasonic sensors pick up movement at the fracture gap under external loading. Testing of the measuring setup has been successful, and relevant results were obtained.

phi-Best proximity point theorems and applications to variational inequality problems

2017

The main concern of this study is to introduce the notion of $$\varphi $$ -best proximity points and establish the existence and uniqueness of $$\varphi $$ -best proximity point for non-self mappings satisfying $$(F,\varphi )$$ -proximal and $$(F,\varphi )$$ -weak proximal contraction conditions in the context of complete metric spaces. Some examples are supplied to support the usability of our results. As applications of the obtained results, some new best proximity point results in partial metric spaces are presented. Furthermore, sufficient conditions to ensure the existence of a unique solution for a variational inequality problem are also discussed.

Best proximity points for cyclic Meir–Keeler contractions

2008

Abstract We introduce a notion of cyclic Meir–Keeler contractions and prove a theorem which assures the existence and uniqueness of a best proximity point for cyclic Meir–Keeler contractions. This theorem is a generalization of a recent result due to Eldred and Veeramani.

USING A.R.P. PROXIMAL SURVEY TO MAP CALCIC HORIZON DEPTH IN VINEYARDS

2012

The investigation of spatial variability of soil water retention capacity and depth is essential for a correct and economical planning of water supply of a vineyard. The advantage of measuring soil electrical properties by proximal sensors is the ability to operate with mobile and non-destructive tools, quicker than the traditional soil survey. A.R.P. (Automatic Resistivity Profiling) is a mobile soil electrical resistivity (ER) mapping system conceived by Geocarta (Paris, France), and it is comprised by a couple of transmitter sprocket-wheels, which inject current within the soil, and three couples of receiver sprocket-wheels, which measure the voltage-drop at three different depths, about…

Current and Potential Cognitive Development in Healthy Children: A New Approach to Raven Coloured Progressive Matrices

2022

In clinical practice and research, Raven’s Coloured Progressive Matrices (RCPMs) continue to be used according to a single procedure that aims to evaluate a single overall score of the current general intelligence level. This study aimed to examine potential cognitive development in a sample of 450 typically developing children, aged from 6 to 10 years, by administering RCPMs according to the standard procedure followed immediately by a standardized interview on incorrect items. In addition, the study aimed to analyze how performance differed across age groups. The results analysis was examined on the basis of three different factors in which the items were grouped in previous factorial stu…
