Abstract Interhemispheric cooperation can be indicated by enhanced performance when stimuli are presented to both visual fields relative to one visual field alone. This “bilateral gain” is seen for words but not pseudowords in lexical decision tasks, and has been attributed to the operation of interhemispheric cell assemblies that exist only for meaningful words with acquired cortical representations. When the amnestic mild cognitive impairment disappears: characterisation of the memory profile

This is the first study investigating qualitative features of memory deficits in subjects affected by reversible MCI [reversible cognitive impairment (RCI)]. METHODS: Baseline cognitive and memory performances of 18 subjects affected by amnestic MCI who had normalized cognitive performances at follow-ups were compared with those of 76 amnestic MCI subjects who still showed impaired cognitive performances at the 24-month follow-up (MCI) and with those of a group of 87 matched control subjects (normal controls). Neuropsychologic phenotypes in familial hemiplegic migraine

Familial hemiplegic migraine (FHM) is a rare autosomal dominant-type migraine with aura. Attacks are characterised by hemiparesis in addition to other aura and migraine symptoms. Few studies have examined the influence of FHM on cognitive functions. This study was aimed to investigate neuropsychological functions in 3 adolescent siblings suffering from FHM assessed six months after the last attack. No relevant deficits were found on a battery of multisectorial tests exploring cognitive functions. Sporadic FHM attack therefore seems not to affect cognition in these patients, at least far from the crises.
