Urban Resilience: A New Way to Live the Urban Space

2022

Since the dawn of the urban age, the issues and values of the urban settlement have varied considerably through the centuries, as well as the theory of ideal and perfect urban form, but the importance of urban spatial structure has never been erased. Nowadays, the city is still in the middle of our civilisation, but the relationships between nested socio-ecological systems are more complex because the human-environment interactions are not bidirectional. Last month news told us that the new coronavirus has not been the first case of a virus that skips the species, reaching up to man, but unlike other recent viruses it had been–and it still is–the first that after centuries has caused signif…

Piazzetta Mediterraneo, Palermo

2020

Pres…

2021

International audience; The present research work aims to analyze, in an exploratory way, the main characteristics of child participatory budgets during 2019 in eight Spanish municipalities. Three hypotheses have been generated and, among the main preliminary conclusions, it is highlighted that in all the cases analyzed the educational and civic training component prevails, in wh…

Wymiar społeczny w projektowaniu zrównoważonego rozwoju miasta

2020

THE CONCEPT OF COMPETENCE IN THE CONTEXT OF EDUCATION REFORM IN LATVIA

2019

The word competence is a key concept of ongoing education reform in Latvia - the ESF project “Competency approach in the curriculum” (hereafter: Project). The implementation of the idea of competence-based curriculum is related to significant changes in the structure of school and pre-school curriculum, the system of evaluation of learning outcomes, teacher education etc., which are widely clarified and discussed in expert groups and public space. Participating as experts in the development of a Project, the authors of the article find that the Latvian educational space lacks a common understanding of the meaning of the concept competence.
