Spain is one of the most active European countries in the open access (OA) movement. Although the gold route has scarcely been used, the green route has been intensively implemented through fulfilment of European and national mandates and the development of institutional policies. Prior to starting up the University of Valencia's (UV) institutional repository, we assessed this institution's real output of periodical publications and drew up the most comprehensive list possible. We also described the visibility of the contents on the Internet. -- Method. We searched the ISSN database and the UV's library catalogue for journals in which the UV is included in the statement of responsibility. -- Results. These two sources did not provide sufficient information, as the University was not listed in all the relevant journals as a publishing entity. Using Crowdsourcing to Overcome Barriers to Women Entrepreneurship

This chapter presents crowdsourcing as a novel way of overcoming barriers facing women entrepreneurs, offering alternatives to conventional solutions. The study analyzes three barriers to women entrepreneurship: access to financing, access to specific management knowledge, and access to information and communication technologies (ICTs). For each barrier, a different form of crowdsourcing is proposed: crowdfunding, crowd wisdom, and crowdfunded media, respectively. Using these crowdsourcing tools, women entrepreneurs can overcome major difficulties when starting businesses.

Determination of phosphorus by instrumental neutron activation and bremsstrahlung measurement in bone samples

A non destructive method based on the31P(n,γ)32P reaction for the assay of phosphorus in bone samples is described. This method involves a thermal neutron irradiation of 2 minutes in a reactor followed by the measurement of the bremsstrahlung produced by the β− of32P in a Ge-detector surrounded by an anti-Compton shield. Accuracy and precision were tested by analysing the certified NIST 1486 Bone Meal reference material and tri-calcium phosphate (Ca3(PO4)2) samples. The value obtained for the reference material was in good agreement with the certified value and with relative standard deviation of 4.1% the precision was acceptable. Significance of passively induced stretch reflexes on achilles tendon force enhancement

An in vivo buckle transducer technique was applied to study the reflex contribution to ATF enhancement during passive dorsiflexion stretches. Single stretches led to a linear ATF increase in the absence of an EMG reflex response, whereas clear ATF enhancement over the passive component occurred 13-15 ms after the onset of EMG responses. To quantify the reflexly induced increase in ATF, the stretched position was maintained. The mean reflex effect was two to four times greater than the passive stretch effect.

The emerging trend towards high-resolution mass spectrometry (MS) alternatives was evaluated by the application of Orbitrap MS for the determination of acrylamide in coffee samples. The high resolving power of the Orbitrap MS provided the high selectivity and sensitivity that enabled quantitative analysis of acrylamide in complex matrices, such as coffee. Several sample preparation methods and scanning modes of the MS (full MS, t-SIM, t-MS2) were assessed in order to optimise parameters of the analytical method.
