A novel octacyanido dicobalt(iii) building block for the construction of heterometallic compounds
2019
The first bimetallic octacyanido complex of CoIII, (PPh4)2[Co2(μ-2,5-dpp)(CN)8] (1), was synthesized and used as a metalloligand with [Mn(MAC)(H2O)2]Cl2·4H2O to give a new {CoIIIMnII} heterometallic chain of formula [MnII(MAC)(μ-NC)2Co2III(μ-2,5-dpp)(CN)6]n·7nH2O (2) (PPh4+ = tetraphenylphosphonium cation; 2,5-dpp = 2,5-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine and MAC = 2,13-dimethyl-3,6,9,12,18-pentaazabicyclo-[12.3.1]octadeca-1(18),2,12,14,16-pentaene). Both compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 contains a diamagnetic 2,5-dpp-bridged dicobalt(III) unit with four peripheral cyanide ligands at each cobalt center achieving a six-coordinate surrounding, the electroneutral…
Crystal engineering of 3-D coordination polymers by pillaring ferromagnetic copper(ii)-methylmalonate layers
2007
Three new copper(II) complexes of formula [Cu(Memal)(H2O)]n (1), [Cu2(pyz)(Memal)2] (2) and [Cu2(4,4′-bpy)(Memal)2(H2O)2] (3) (Memal = methylmalonate, pyz = pyrazine and 4,4′-bpy = 4,4′-bipyridine) were obtained and structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 is a square grid of aquacopper(II) units which are linked by carboxylate-methylmalonate groups in the anti–syn (equatorial–equatorial) coordination mode. The crystal structures of 2 and 3 consist of corrugated layers of copper(II) (2) and aquacopper(II) (3) units with intralayer carboxylate-methylmalonate bridges in the anti–syn (equatorial–apical) coordination mode which are linked through pyrazine (2) and 4,4′-bipyridi…
Complexes of organometallic compounds. XLVIII. Mössbauer and other studies on pyrazine derivatives of tin(IV) compounds. A relationship between isome…
1978
Abstract Adducts RSnCl 3 ·pyz (R = Me, Bu n , Oct n , Ph; pyz = pyrazine) have been synthesized and characterized in the solid state. It has been determined that RSnCl 3 ·pyz are polymeric compounds, where the ligand acts as bridging bis-monodentate and the tin atoms attain the coordination number six. This has been duduced from: i) temperature dependent Mossbauer spectroscopy; ii) the correlation between Mossbauer isomer shift, δ, and electrical charge on tin, Q Sn , concerning pyrazine adducts of RSnCl 3 and others; iii) an infrared study of the coordinated ligand in RSnCl 3 ·pyz. Other implications of the Mossbauer T dependent study ( e.g. , the decrease of the Debye temperature in RSnCl…
Precise Control and Consecutive Modulation of Spin Transition Temperature Using Chemical Migration in Porous Coordination Polymers
2011
Precise control of spin transition temperature (T(c)) is one of the most important challenges in molecular magnetism. A Hofmann-type porous coordination polymer {Fe(pz)[Pt(II)(CN)(4)]} (1; pz = pyrazine) exhibited cooperative spin transition near room temperature (T(c)(up) = 304 K and T(c)(down) = 284 K) and its iodine adduct {Fe(pz)[Pt(II/IV)(CN)(4)(I)]} (1-I), prepared by oxidative addition of iodine to the open metal sites of Pt(II), raised the T(c) by 100 K. DSC and microscopic Raman spectra of a solid mixture of 1-I and 1 revealed that iodine migrated from 1-I to 1 through the grain boundary after heating above 398 K. We have succeeded in precisely controlling the iodine content of {Fe…
A theoretical study of the low-lying excited states of thieno[3,4-b]pyrazine
2009
The low-lying electronic excited states of thieno[3,4-b]pyrazine have been studied using the multiconfigurational second-order perturbation CASPT2 theory with extended atomic natural orbital basis sets. The CASPT2 results allow for a full interpretation of the electronic absorption and emission spectra and provide valuable information for the rationalization of the experimental data. The nature, position, and intensity of the spectral bands have been analyzed in detail. A preliminary comparative study of the ground-state geometry of thieno[3,4-b]pyrazine has been performed at the coupled cluster single and doubles and density functional theory levels using a variety of correlation-consisten…
Influence of the coligand in the magnetic properties of a series of copper(ii)–phenylmalonate complexes
2014
This work presents a series of layered systems based on phenylmalonate-containing copper(II) complexes and different coligands. Eight compounds [Cu(L)(Phmal)]n where L = pyrimidine (pym, 1) pyrazine (pyz, 2), 3-cyanopyridine (3-CNpy, 3), 4-cyanopyridine (4-CNpy, 4), 3-fluoropyridine (3-Fpy, 5), 3-chloropyridine (3-Clpy, 6), 3-bromopyridine (3-Brpy, 7) and 3-iodopyridine (3-Ipy, 8), have been synthesized and magneto-structurally characterized. The coligands selected not only modify the coordination environment of the metal ion, blocking or extending the polymerization, but also interact with the phenyl ring of the phenylmalonate ligand and dramatically affect the crystal packing through weak…
Solid state polymerization causing transition to a ferromagnetic state. Crystal structures and magnetic properties of [Cu2(dpp)(H2O)(dmso)Cl4]·dmso a…
2001
The preparation, crystal structures and variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility data for [Cu2(dpp)(H2O)(dmso)Cl4]·dmso (1a) and [Cu2(dpp)Cl4]n (2) (dpp = 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine, dmso = dimethyl sulfoxide) are reported. 1a consists of dinuclear dpp-bridged molecules with chlorine, water and dmso serving as terminal ligands. The two copper atoms are crystallographically independent, with distorted square pyramidal and trigonal bipyramidal coordination geometries, respectively. In a first approximation 2 may be described as a chain compound with out-of-plane mono-μ-chloro bridges (Cu–Cl–Cu–Cl). Only one of the crystallographically independent copper atoms participates in this chain fo…
2,3,5,6-Tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (tppz)-containing iron(II) complexes: Syntheses and crystal structures
2007
Abstract The preparation and crystal structure of two iron(II) complexes of formula PPh4-mer-[Fe(tppz)(CN)3] · 7H2O (1) and [Fe(tppz)2][Fe(NCS)4] (2) [tppz = 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine; PPh 4 + = tetraphenylphosphonium cation ] are reported here. The structure of 1 consists of mononuclear mer-tricyano[2,3,5,6-tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine]ferrate(II) anions, tetraphenylphosphonium cations and crystallization water molecules. Three carbon atoms from three cyanide groups in a mer arrangement and three nitrogen atoms from a tridentate tppz ligand build a somewhat distorted octahedral surrounding around the iron atom in 1. The values of the Fe–C [1.925(6)–1.947(5) A] and Fe–N [1.870(4)–1…
GC sniffing analysis : olfactive intensity measurement by two methods
1995
The intensity perceived by sniffing after GC elution of six volatile compounds was measured by ten judges using two pieces of apparatus: a PC mouse which is moved on a 60-cm length scale and a rheostat apparatus which measures the finger span. The choice of the components mixed was influenced by purity, elution time, presence in food and known Steven's slopes. The histograms obtained by summing the responses (determined by measuring the areas under the peaks) of ten people show no significant differences between the two pieces of apparatus. Histograms realised in parallel by Charm analysis with three other judges showed great differences between subjects. However, the mean of the three Char…
ChemInform Abstract: A Straightforward Copper-Free Palladium Methodology for the Selective Alkynylation of a Wide Variety of S-, O-, and N-Based Mono…
2009
Abstract High-yield alkynylations are successfully achieved by a simple and widely accessible catalytic system for an unprecedented variety of heterocyclic bromides and chlorides in position -2, -3 or -5: pyridine, quinoline, thiophene, furan, thiazole, benzothiazole, pyrimidine, pyridazine, pyrazine, dioxepin halides are efficiently functionalized in short time reactions. This copper-free methodology employs 1 mol % palladium only, with inexpensive PPh3 and amine base. The ionic liquid solvent allows a straigtforward separation of products and recycling opportunity. Unsuitable substrates and secondary reactions are also reported in order to point out further progress in cross-coupling usin…
