Human trichuriasis is a neglected tropical disease which affects millions of people worldwide, mostly living in low socio-economic conditions. Numerous studies have been conducted over the past 10 years to compare the different techniques for T. trichiura eggs detection. Our study provides the first geometric morphometric analysis for the specific detection of eggs of Trichuris sp. isolated from stools of macaque (M. sylvanus), colobus (C. g. kikuyensis), grivets (C. aethiops) and the Brazza's monkey (C. neglectus) from zoos in Spain. There are normative data of the quality of life (QoL) questionnaire EORTC QLQ-C30 (the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire) for several European countries and Korea, but not for Latin America. The aim of this study was to provide these normative values for the general population in Colombia and to assess differences in terms of age and sex. Autors maģistra darbā salīdzina lietojumprogrammu saskarņu (application programming interface, API) izstrādes tehnoloģijas OData un GraphQL, kas abas piedāvā lietotājiem lielāku elastību vaicājumu sastādīšanā salīdzinājumā ar izplatīto REST pieeju. Abas tehnoloģijas tiek gan aprakstītas no teorijas viedokļa, gan pārbaudītas praktiski, izstrādājot programmas-klientus un realizējot abu tehnoloģiju API kopīgam datu modelim aizmurugsistēmā. Iegūtie salīdzināšanas rezultāti tiek apkopoti un analizēti, pieminot katras tehnoloģijas galvenās priekšrocības un trūkumus, un aspektus, kas būtu jāapsver, lemjot par tehnoloģijas pielietošanu programmizstrādes projektā.

The rise of temperatures due to global warming is related to a lengthening of the breeding season in many bird species. This allows more pairs to attempt two clutches within the breeding season, thus finishing their breeding activity later in the season and therefore potentially overlapping these with post–breeding moult. We tested whether this occurred in two Spanish great tit Parus major populations. The proportion of pairs laying second clutches increased from 1 % to 32 % over the study period in one of the populations (Sagunto, 1995–2019), while it did not change in the other (Quintos, 2006–2019; mean 5 %). Lietotājiem no malas šī mājaslapa funkcionē kā reklāmas un izziņas avots. Mājaslapa veidota izmantojot HTML, CSS un PHP programmēšanas valodas.

The role of freshwater copepods in the environmental risk assessment of caffeine and propranolol mixtures in the surface water bodies of Spain

In this study we aimed at assessing: (i) the environmental risk posed by mixtures of caffeine and propranolol to the freshwater ecosystems of Spain; (ii) the sensitivity of freshwater copepod species to the two compounds; (iii) if the toxicity of caffeine and propranolol to freshwater copepods contributes to the environmental risk posed by the two compounds in the freshwater bodies of Spain.
