Lifetimes of intruder states in 186Pb, 188Pb and 194Po
2008
Abstract Lifetimes of prolate intruder states in 186Pb and 188Pb and oblate intruder states in 194Po have been determined through recoil distance Doppler-shift lifetime measurements. Deformation parameters of | β 2 | = 0.29 ( 5 ) and | β 2 | = 0.17(3) have been extracted from experimental B ( E 2 ) values for the prolate and the oblate bands, respectively. The present study addresses the phenomenon of shape coexistence typical for the nuclei near Z = 82 and N = 104 , providing information on configuration mixing of intrinsic structures of the nuclei of interest. The results are compared with the available lifetime data and theoretical results for neutron-deficient Po, Pb, Hg and Pt nuclei. …
Quasimolecular resonances in terms of dipole and quadrupole interacting bosons
1986
The energy spectrum of the /sup 12/C+ /sup 12/C resonances is described with the interacting boson (quadrupole) model. The Hamiltonians corresponding to the three dynamical symmetries and to the general case of the model are used. The results are compared with the similar calculations within the nuclear vibron (dipole) model. Based on the present experimental data no choice can be made between the dipole and quadrupole descriptions, but in both cases the best fit is quite close to the dynamical symmetry corresponding to a soft vibrator.
g factors of $^{31,32,33}$Al: Indication for intruder configurations in the $^{33}$Al ground state
2006
Abstract The g factors of 31,32,33 Al have been measured using the β -nuclear magnetic resonance ( β -NMR) technique on spin-polarized beams produced in the fragmentation of a 36 S (77.5 MeV/u) beam on a 9 Be target. Nearly pure beams of Al ( Z = 13 ) isotopes were selected with the high-resolution fragment separator LISE at GANIL. An asymmetry as high as 6% has been observed in the β -NMR curve for 32 Al implanted in a Si single crystal. The magnetic moment of the N = 20 nucleus 33 Al is obtained for the first time: μ ( Al 33 , I π = 5 / 2 + ) = 4.088 ( 5 ) μ N , while those of 31,32 Al are obtained with improved accuracy: μ ( Al 31 , I π = 5 / 2 + ) = 3.830 ( 5 ) μ N and μ ( Al 32 , I π =…
Yrast superdeformed band in59Cu
2000
High-spin states in Cu-59 were populated using the fusion-evaporation reactions Si-28+ Ca-40 at a beam energy of 125 MeV and Ar-36+Si-28 at a beam energy of 143 MeV. The Gammasphere array in conjunction with ancillary detector systems allowed for the identification of a superdeformed rotational band in Cu-59, which was firmly linked to low-spin yrast states. Using directional correlations of oriented states, a spin-parity assignment of I-pi=25/2(+) to the band head was possible. The average quadrupole moment of the band is measured to be Q(t)=(2.24+/-0.40) e b. The characteristics of the band are compared to neighboring nuclei and predictions of different mean-field theories.
Determination of the intrinsic quadrupole moment of the superdeformed band in 143Eu
1995
The intrinsic quadrupole moment, Q0, of the superdeformed band in 143Eu has been extracted from nuclear lifetimes, measured in a Doppler shift attenuation method experiment. Data were collected with the NORDBALL gamma-ray spectrometer following the reaction 110Pd (37Cl, 4n) 143Eu at a beam energy of 160 MeV. A centroid shift analysis of the data was carried out, using the Braune stopping powers to model the slowing down of the recoil nuclei in the target and backing materials. This gave a value of Q0 = 13.0 ± 1.5 eb for the band. The result is in good agreement with the theoretical prediction of Total Routhian Surface calculations, and supports the assigned single particle configuration, in…
High-spin study of neutron-deficient $^{114}$Xe
2000
Abstract High-spin states have been populated in 114 54 Xe via the 58 Ni( 58 Ni, 2p) reaction at 210 MeV, using the Jurosphere γ -ray spectrometer to record γ -ray coincidences. The known level scheme has been significantly extended and includes two positive-parity and three negative-parity structures. At the highest spins, one of the negative-parity bands becomes yrast and shows the characteristics of a smoothly terminating band. Quadrupole moments for two of the bands at high spin have been estimated through a Doppler-broadened lineshape analysis; the terminating band has a reduced quadrupole moment implying that it is not far from full termination into a noncollective oblate state. A reliable screening of mycotoxins and pesticide residues in paprika using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to high resolution Or…
2016
Abstract In this study, an ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled to a high resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry (Orbitrap-HRMS) was demonstrated as a promising technique in high-throughput method development for the routine analysis and contamination control of mycotoxins and pesticide residues in spices. The method was applied for the analysis of fifty ground paprika samples containing blends of sweet and hot paprika harvested in Brazil and China. The efficiency and detection sensitivity of the used UHPLC-Orbitrap-HRMS technique were compared to the results obtained using a triple quadrupole tandem mass spectrometric detector (UHPLC-QqQ-MS/MS). The values of recover…
Improved sensitivity of ochratoxin A analysis in coffee using high-performance liquid chromatography with hybrid triple quadrupole-linear ion trap ma…
2016
A novel and sensitive method utilising high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to triple quadrupole-linear ion trap mass spectrometry (LC-QqQLIT-MS/MS) was developed in order to analyse the content of ochratoxin A (OTA) in coffee samples. The introduction of the triple-stage MS scanning mode (MS(3)) has been shown to increase greatly sensitivity and selectivity by eliminating the high chromatographic baseline caused by interference of complex coffee matrices. The analysis included the sample preparation procedure involving extraction of OTA using a methanol-water mixture and clean-up by immunoaffinity columns and detection using the MS(3) scanning mode of LC-QqQLIT-MS/MS. The propose…
Mass spectrometry strategies for mycotoxins analysis in European beers
2013
In this work, an existent solid-phase extraction (SPE) procedure was used to study the occurrence of mycotoxins in different European beers. HPLC-QqQ-MS/MS and ultra high resolution mass analyser have been optimized for the analysis of 18 mycotoxins: the methods were validated according to the EU Commission Decision 2002/657/EC guidelines. In this sense, matrix-matched calibration was performed for each type of beer, obtaining an effective quantification. The recoveries ranged from 63 to 91% and repeatability and reproducibility expressed as relative standard deviation (RSD%) were lower than 17%. On one hand, HPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap ® was used for unambiguous identification of target mycotoxins, …
