Optimistic thinking, satisfaction with life and job and nursing care rationing: Multicentre study in Poland
2020
Aims: The aim was to examine whether the level of optimism and job and life satisfaction is a differentiating factor from the level of implicit rationing of nursing care in a sample of Polish registered nurses. Background: Satisfaction with life and job is reflected by greater effectiveness of nurses at work and creates a positive work environment, which in turn may modulate the level of implicit rationing of nursing care. Methods: A cross-sectional multicentre research design was adopted, employing a representative sample of 1,010 registered Polish nurses identified between the beginning of January and the end of June 2019. Four self-report scales were used in this study: Basel Extent of R…
Screen media time usage of 12-16 year-old Spanish school adolescents: Effects of personal and socioeconomic factors, season and type of day.
2007
Abstract This study examined screen media time usage (SMTU) and its association with personal and socioeconomic factors, as well as the effect of season and type of day, in a Spanish sample of 12–16 year-old school adolescents (N = 323). The research design was a cross-sectional survey, in which an interviewer-administered recall questionnaire was used. Statistical analyses included repeated measures analyses of variance, analysis of covariance and structural equation models. Results showed an average of 2.52 h per day of total SMTU and partial times of 1.73 h per day in TV viewing, 0.27 h per day in computer/videogames, and 0.52 h per day in mobile use. Four significant predictors of SMTU …
Nurse knowledge and confidence on peripheral intravenous catheter insertion and maintenance in pediatric patients: A multicentre cross-sectional study
2021
Abstract Purpose To examine nursing knowledge and confidence of peripheral intravenous catheter insertion and maintenance in pediatric patients. Design and methods An online survey using validated questionnaires was conducted in ten (tertiary and district) hospitals in Indonesia from May to September 2020. Multivariable general linear models were used to investigate associations between nurses' characteristics and knowledge and confidence on the catheter insertion and maintenance score. Results A total of 413 out of 458 pediatric nurses completed the survey (a response rate of 90%). The mean score of the nurse knowledge on insertion was 18.9(±3.3) (maximum score: 21), and the maintenance sc…
Clinicians in 25 countries prefer to use lower levels of oxygen to resuscitate preterm infants at birth.
2016
Aim This study determined current international clinical practice and opinions regarding initial fractional inspired oxygen (FiO2) and pulse oximetry (SpO2) targets for delivery room resuscitation of preterm infants of less than 29 weeks of gestation. Methods An online survey was disseminated to neonatal clinicians via established professional clinical networks using a web-based survey programme between March 9 and June 30, 2015. Results Of the 630 responses from 25 countries, 60% were from neonatologists. The majority (77%) would target SpO2 between the 10th to 50th percentiles values for full-term infants. The median starting FiO2 was 0.3, with Japan using the highest (0.4) and the UK usi…
Funnel plots and choropleth maps in cancer risk communication: a Delphi study.
2019
In the last decades, the issues related to health risk communication to stakeholders and citizens involving health care practitioners and local political authorities have been increasingly debated. The study evaluated an alternative strategy to communicate cancer risk to local communities, involving an expert panel of public health operators in comparing two different graphic tools, Funnel Plot and Choropleth map.A Delphi method process was implemented to achieve a unified consensus on an expert panel of public health operators with regard to weaknesses and strengths of the Funnel Plot and the Choropleth map as tools for cancer risk communication to local communities and other stakeholders.…
The Impact of the Direct Participation of Workers on the Rates of Absenteeism in the Spanish Labor Environment.
2020
The aim of this research was to study the relationship between the different levels of direct participation of workers (passive, consultative or active-delegated) in risk prevention management with the levels of absenteeism in Spain. To this end, a transversal study was carried out using microdata from the Second European Survey of Companies on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER-2-Spain, 2014) with a master population of 3162 work centres. A multinomial logistic regression model was carried out, with the dependent variable being the levels of absenteeism and the independent variables, the participation indicators and preventive management, calculating the adjusted odds ratio (aOR) between all t…
Current practice in managing patients on anticoagulants and/or antiplatelet agents around the time of gastrointestinal endoscopy -- a nation-wide sur…
2004
Anticoagulants and antiplatelet agents are widely used in the prophylaxis and management of thromboembolic and cardiovascular diseases. Gastrointestinal bleeding is a well-known complication of these agents. Modification of anticoagulant and antiplatelet therapy is often required in patients undergoing surgical procedures and specific recommendations for the perioperative period have been issued. Fewer data exist with regard to the use of these agents around the time of endoscopic procedures. A survey of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), performed several years ago, showed a wide variation between endoscopists in the management of anticoagulants and antiplatelet ag…
Risk perception of sars-cov-2 infection and implementation of various protective measures by dentists across various countries

Dentists fall in this category, as not only do they operate with aerosol generating procedures but also operate within a face-to-face contact area. Methods: A structured self-administered questionnaire was developed at Najran University and provided to the participants for data collection. The data collected included information on risk perception and incorporation of measures for protection against COVID-19 to gauge the attitude of dentists during this period. Also, clinical implementation of various protective measures was reviewe…

2021
The COVID-19 pandemic is the largest pandemic of an aggressive coronavirus in the human population in the 21st century. The pandemic may have a negative emotional impact on pregnant women, causing fear and stress. Negative feelings during pregnancy later affect fear of childbirth. We assume that fear of COVID-19 will be a mediator of the relationship between perceived stress and fear of childbirth. A total of 262 Polish pregnant women participated in this study. Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), Fear of COVID-19 Scale (FOC-6) and Labour Anxiety Questionnaire (KLP II) were used in the study.…
