NEIGHBORHOOD EFFECTS IN SPATIAL HOUSING VALUE MODELS. THE CASE OF THE METROPOLITAN AREA OF PARIS (1999)

2009

In hedonic housing models, the spatial dimension of housing values are traditionally processed by the impact of neighborhood variables and accessibility variables. In this paper we show that spatial effects might remain once neighborhood effects and accessibility have been controlled for. We notably stress on three sides of neighborhood effects: social capital, social status and social externalities and consider the accessibility to the primary economic center as describing the urban spatial trend. Using spatial econometrics specifications of the hedonic equation, we estimate whether spatial effects impact the housing values. Our empirical case concerns the Metropolitan Area (MA) of Paris i…

Resistance of keratinocytes to TGFbeta-mediated growth restriction and apoptosis induction accelerates re-epithelialization in skin wounds.

2002

The pleiotropic growth factor TGFβ plays an important role in regulating responses to skin injury. TGFβ targets many different cell types and is involved in all aspects of wound healing entailing inflammation,re-epithelialization, matrix formation and remodeling. To elucidate the role of TGFβ signal transduction in keratinocytes during cutaneous wound healing, we have used transgenic mice expressing a dominant negative type II TGFβ receptor exclusively in keratinocytes. We could demonstrate that this loss of TGFβ signaling in keratinocytes led to an accelerated re-epithelialization of full thickness excisional wounds accompanied by an increased proliferation in keratinocytes at the wound ed…

Some Remarks on Differentiable Sequences and Recursivity

2010

International audience; We investigate the recursive structure of differentiable sequences over the alphabet {1, 2}. We derive a recursive formula for the (n + 1)-th symbol of a differentiable sequence, which yields to a new recursive formula for the Kolakoski sequence. Finally, we show that the sequence of absolute differences of consecutive symbols of a differentiable sequence u is a morphic image of the run-length encoding of u.
