Freshening of the Alaska Coastal Current recorded by coralline algal Ba/Ca ratios

2011

Arctic Ocean freshening can exert a controlling influence on global climate, triggering strong feedbacks on ocean‐atmospheric processes and affecting the global cycling of the world’s oceans. Glacier‐fed ocean currents such as the Alaska Coastal Current are important sources of freshwater for the Bering Sea shelf, and may also influence the Arctic Ocean freshwater budget. Instrumental data indicate a multiyear freshening episode of the Alaska Coastal Current in the early 21st century. It is uncertain whether this freshening is part of natural multidecadal climate variability or a unique feature of anthropogenically induced warming. In order to answer this, a better understanding of past var…

Real-world impact of rotavirus vaccination in European healthcare settings: a systematic literature review

2022

INTRODUCTION: Rotavirus is one of the most common pathogens causing diarrhea in children <5 years and has a major impact on childhood morbidity and mortality. Since the implementation of rotavirus vaccines into childhood immunization programs across Europe, there has been a reduction in rotavirus burden, including hospitalizations, outpatient cases, costs, and deaths. AREAS COVERED: A systematic literature review identified publications describing the clinical and economic impact of rotavirus vaccinations across Europe, from their introduction in 2006 to the end of 2020. A total of 3,137 articles were identified, of which 46 were included in the review. Included articles reported the impact…

Innovative Managed Care May Be Related to Improved Prognosis for Acute Myocardial Infarction Survivors

2021

Background: Mortality following discharge in myocardial infarction survivors remains high. Therefore, we compared outcomes in myocardial infarction survivors participating and not participating in a novel, nationwide managed care program for myocardial infarction survivors in Poland. Methods: We used public databases. We included all patients hospitalized due to acute myocardial infarction in Poland between October 1, 2017 and December 31, 2018. We excluded from the analysis all patients aged <18 years as well as those who died during hospitalization or within 10 days following discharge from hospital. All patients were prospectively followed. The primary end point was defined as death …

Antonio Gramscin hegemonian käsitteen relevanssi kasvatustieteelliselle tutkimukselle

2017

Cognitive flexibility and reaction time improvements after cognitive training designed for men perpetrators of intimate partner violence: results of …

2022

AbstractPurpose Current interventions for intimate partner violence (IPV) perpetrators are designed to reduce IPV recidivism by treating risk factors and increasing protective factors. However, these interventions pay less attention to cognitive functioning in IPV perpetrators and how these variables interfere with the future risk of recidivism. Therefore, the main objective of this research was to compare the effectiveness of Standard Intervention Programs for men who perpetrate IPV [SIP] + cognitive training vs SIP + placebo training in promoting cognitive improvements and reducing recidivism. Furthermore, we also aimed to assess whether changes in the risk of recidivism would be related …

Predicción de la reincidencia con delincuentes juveniles: adaptación del IGI-J

2017

[EN] The aim of this study is to determine the usefulness of the Management and Intervention Inventory for Young (IGI-J) in predicting the past recidivism in young offenders, and the implementation of appropriate intervention programs for that population. A retrospective study with a sample of 258 juvenile offenders who were serving a penal measure was performed. The instrument that evaluated the prediction of recidivism is the Youth Level of Service/Case Management Inventory (Hoge and Andrews, 2002). Its adaptation to spanish is the IGI-J (Garrido, Lopez and Silva, 2004). The results indicate that the IGI-J correctly identified 66.7% of offenders and 68.8% of non-recidivists, with an alpha…

Letture operaiste di Gramsci. Il caso Negri

2020

This article aims to analyze the relationship between Antonio Negri and the political and philosophical categories of Antonio Gramsci. It is my intention to resume, from the Sixties of the last century to nowadays, the stragegical uses of Gramsci’s thought by Negri. According to me, we can divide four periods in the theoretical framework of Negri. In the first one, Gramsci is an author incompatible with the workerist strategy of class struggle. In the second one, there is a sort of use of Gramsci against Gramsci. Pointendly, Negri tries to subtract the author of the Prison Notebooks from the prerogatives of the Pci. After the arrest of Negri in the 1979, Gramsci’s figure became more ambiguo…

Losing weight after menopause with minimal aerobic training and mediterranean diet

2020

Objective: It is a common belief that menopausal women have greater difficulty losing weight. The aim of this study was to assess the efficacy of a Mediterranean diet (MD) to promote weight loss in postmenopausal women.
