One-loop integrals with XLOOPS-GiNaC
2001
We present a new algorithm for the reduction of one-loop tensor Feynman integrals within the framework of the XLOOPS project, covering both mathematical and programming aspects. The new algorithm supplies a clean way to reduce the one-loop one-, two- and three-point Feynman integrals with arbitrary tensor rank and powers of the propagators to a basis of simple integrals. We also present a new method of coding XLOOPS in C++ using the GiNaC library.
Finite-Size and Illumination Conditions Effects in All-Dielectric Metasurfaces
2022
Dielectric metasurfaces have emerged as a promising alternative to their plasmonic counterparts due to lower ohmic losses, which hinder sensing applications and nonlinear frequency conversion, and their larger flexibility to shape the emission pattern in the visible regime. To date, the computational cost of full-wave numerical simulations has forced the exploitation of the Floquet theorem, which implies infinitely periodic structures, in designing such devices. In this work, we show the potential pitfalls of this approach when considering finite-size metasurfaces and beam-like illumination conditions, in contrast to the typical infinite plane-wave illumination compatible with the Floquet t…
Application prospects of silica core side-glowing optical fibers
2005
The side-emitting optical fibers are specially designed to stimulate leakage of the core-transmitted radiation via their side surfaces, so creating the effect of glowing tiny wires. The basic design concepts for this kind of optical fibers are discussed, as well as some of the present and potential future applications.
Life Cycle Assessment of aluminum alloys chips recycling through single and multi-step Friction Stir Consolidation processes
2023
Manufacturing scientists have to find new processes enabling energy and resource efficient circular economy strategies. Solid state recycling processes have proved to be environmentally friendly alternatives to recycle aluminum alloys process scraps like chips. In this paper the environmental characterization of a solid state recycling process named Friction Stir Consolidation (FSC) is presented. A full Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) comparative analysis is developed: the environmental performance of new and different variants of FSC processes and remelting based routes are quantified and compared to one another. Also, different scenarios are analysed to provide guidelines for the correct impl…
Architecture of a digital PFM controller for IC implementation
2006
This paper presents a digital controller architecture oriented to IC implementation. The classical digital pulse width modulator (D-PWM), using digital analog converter (DAC), is replaced with a Sigma-Delta (/spl Sigma//spl Delta/) modulator based on pulse frequency modulator (PFM) technique. Results of an investigation from a prototype for DC-DC converter, in terms of simulated and experimental performances, are reported, together with harmonic frequency investigation. The control function design is implemented on a field programmable gate array (FPGA). As a consequence of good agreement between simulated and experimental results, the proposed architecture realizes a digital control loop w…
Wavelet analysis and HHG in nanorings: their applica-tions in logic gates and memory mass devices
2015
We study the application of one nanoring driven by a laser field in different states of polarization in logic circuits. In particular we show that assigning Boolean values to different states of the incident laser field and to the emitted signals, we can create logic gates such as OR, XOR and AND. We also show the possibility of making logic circuits such as half-adder and full-adder using one and two nanorings respectively. Using two nanorings we made the Toffoli gate. Finally we use the final angular momentum acquired by the electron to store information and hence show the possibility of using an array of nanorings as a mass memory device.
Solution of the Skyrme-Hartree–Fock–Bogolyubovequations in the Cartesian deformed harmonic-oscillator basis. (VIII) hfodd (v2.73y): A new version of …
2017
We describe the new version (v2.73y) of the code HFODD which solves the nuclear Skyrme Hartree-Fock or Skyrme Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov problem by using the Cartesian deformed harmonic-oscillator basis. In the new version, we have implemented the following new features: (i) full proton-neutron mixing in the particle-hole channel for Skyrme functionals, (ii) the Gogny force in both particle-hole and particle-particle channels, (iii) linear multi-constraint method at finite temperature, (iv) fission toolkit including the constraint on the number of particles in the neck between two fragments, calculation of the interaction energy between fragments, and calculation of the nuclear and Coulomb ene…
Extraordinary tuning of a nanocavity by a near-field probe
2011
Abstract We report here an experimental observation of an extraordinary near-field interaction between a local probe and a small-volume solid-state nanocavity. We directly compare the normally observed near-field interaction regime driven by the perturbation theory and then report the extraordinary interaction regime. Subsequently, we show that the cavity can take up to 2 min to recover from this interaction after removing the probe and that leads to an extraordinary blue-shift of the cavity resonance wavelength (∼15 nm) which depends on the probe motion above the cavity and not the position. The reasons for this effect are not fully understood yet but we try to give some explanations.
Role of paramagnetic polyconjugated clusters in lignin antioxidant activity(in vitro)
2012
Using physico-chemical methods (EPR, SEC, Py-GC/MS and UV/VIS spectroscopy) and wet chemical analysis, the characteristics of 6 hardwood lignins in terms of functionality, molecular weight and composition of lignin substructures were determined and considered together with the results of DPPH•, ABTS•+ and O2•− antioxidant assays with the aim to understand the relationships governing antioxidant properties of lignin. The strong positive linear correlation between lignin antioxidant capacity in the three assays used and the extent of conjugation of paramagnetic polyconjugated clusters in lignin macromolecules was found. The biological activity of the most active alkaline lignins was assessed …
A Hardware and Secure Pseudorandom Generator for Constrained Devices
2018
Hardware security for an Internet of Things or cyber physical system drives the need for ubiquitous cryptography to different sensing infrastructures in these fields. In particular, generating strong cryptographic keys on such resource-constrained device depends on a lightweight and cryptographically secure random number generator. In this research work, we have introduced a new hardware chaos-based pseudorandom number generator, which is mainly based on the deletion of an Hamilton cycle within the $N$ -cube (or on the vectorial negation), plus one single permutation. We have rigorously proven the chaotic behavior and cryptographically secure property of the whole proposal: the mid-term eff…
