This chapter offers a close reading of the young adult novel Miss by Synne Sun Loes (2017). The story is about 16-year-old Ea who is at the point of dropping out of school. The title carries a double reference—on the one hand, to Ea’s feeling of being a mis(s)fit and, on the other hand, to her critique of her best friend turning into a ‘Little Miss Perfect’. The analysis discusses two main questions: What has made this teenager from a well-off family so vulnerable? and How is her resistance expressed? The Affordances of Reading/Writing on Paper and Digitally in Finland

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of digital technologies on reading and writing in Finland. The perceived affordances of reading and writing on paper and digitally are compared by analysing written essays collected from 25 communication students in 2013. Research design is replicated from a study of Fortunati and Vincent that concerns Italian students. Results show that Finnish students perceive more positive than negative affordances regarding reading on paper, while reading on screen attracts fewer virtues. The aim of this study was to examine the situational associations of reading-related task values and efficacy beliefs with achievement emotions, and whether these associations are moderated by reading difficulties (RD). ABSTRACT Lactococcal bacteriophages represent one of the leading causes of dairy fermentation failure and product inconsistencies. A new member of the lactococcal 949 phage group, named WRP3, was isolated from cheese whey from a Sicilian factory in 2011. The genome sequence of this phage was determined, and it constitutes the largest lactococcal phage genome currently known, at 130,008 bp.
