W pracy przedstawiono przegląd informacji na temat występowania żabieńca trawolistnego Alisma gramineum Lej. oraz omówiono nowe stanowiska zlokalizowane w stawach hodowlanych południowo-zachodniej Polski. W Polsce gatunek ten należy do bardzo rzadkich składników flory. Większość z około 120 dotychczas znanych jego stanowisk pochodzi z XIX lub pierwszej połowy XX w. Obecnie gatunek ten znany jest z około 30 stanowisk, z czego 2 znajdują się w południowo-zachodniej Polsce. W trakcie obecnych badań stwierdzony został na tym obszarze w stawach hodowlanych na 5 nowych stanowiskach – 3 znajdują się na Dolnym Śląsku, a 2 na Śląsku Opolskim. Olfactory cues and the value of information : Voles interpret cues differently based on recent predator encounters

Prey strategically respond to the risk of predation by varying their behavior while balancing the tradeoffs of food and safety. We present here an experiment that tests the way the same indirect cues of predation risk are interpreted by bank voles, Myodes glareolus, as the game changes through exposure to a caged weasel. Using optimal patch use, we asked wild-caught voles to rank the risk they perceived. We measured their response to olfactory cues in the form of weasel bedding, a sham control in the form of rabbit bedding, and an odor-free control. Prey seldom rely on a single type of antipredator defence, often using multiple defences to avoid predation. In many cases, selection in different contexts may favour the evolution of multiple defences in a prey. However, a prey may use multiple defences to protect itself during a single predator encounter. Such “defence portfolios” that defend prey against a single instance of predation are distributed across and within successive stages of the predation sequence (encounter, detection, identification, approach (attack), subjugation and consumption). Saccharides, and in particular trehalose, are known for their efficiency in protecting biostructures against environmental stress [1], although the preservation mechanism is still debated. Experiments and simulations [2,3] on carboxy-myoglobin (MbCO) showed that the protein dynamics is highly inhibited in dry trehalose matrices, the inhibition being dependent on the water content. Riformati di Petralia Sottana, centro delle alte Madonie. Tra questi l’ostensorio del 1817 in argento e pietre preziose commissionato dall’arciprete don Antonio Mancusi agli argentieri di Acireale (Ct) Alfio e Salvatore Strano che lo hanno realizzato avvalendosi della collaborazione di Antonino Sirretta e Salvatore Maddalena.
