Potku – New analysis software for heavy ion elastic recoil detection analysis

Time-of-flight elastic recoil detection (ToF-ERD) analysis software has been developed. The software combines a Python-language graphical front-end with a C code computing back-end in a user-friendly way. The software uses a list of coincident time-of- flight–energy (ToF–E) events as an input. The ToF calibration can be determined with a simple graphical procedure. The graphical interface allows the user to select different elements and isotopes from a ToF–E histogram and to convert the selections to individual elemental energy and depth profiles. The Reform of Vocational Education and Training in Finland: Insights from Twitter

This paper aims to analyse and describe relationships and communication in Twitter in relation to vocational education and training reform in Finland. Data were collected during the early implementation phase of the reform from January 2018 to early June 2018. The data included 2400 tweets containing the hashtag #amisreformi (VET reform). Social network analysis was utilised to study the network and communities. The main themes of the tweets were analysed using thematic analysis, and automated sentiment analysis was used to examine the tones of the tweets and public opinion. Low power nodes have been a hot topic in research, standardization, and industry communities, which is typically considered under an umbrella term called heterogeneous networking. In this paper we look at the problem of deploying optimally low power nodes in the context of relay networking, when an operator connects low power nodes (or small cells) via the wireless backhaul that uses the same spectrum and the same wireless access technology. Essence is a standard for working with methods in software engineering. As such, it can be seen as the reference architecture for software engineering. The Essence consists of the Kernel, and a notation called the Language. This representation is not widely known and likely hinders the adoption of the Essence. This paper represents the work-in-progress of representing the Essence using ArchiMate, the de facto notation for enterprise architecture. Memorializing mass deaths at the border: two cases from Canberra (Australia) and Lampedusa (Italy)

In this paper, we compare two seemingly very similar instances in which individuals and organizations within the borders of the global North have memorialized the deaths of irregular migrants at sea: the SIEV X memorial in Australia’s national capital Canberra, and the Giardino della memoria (Garden of Remembrance) on the Italian island of Lampedusa. Unlike ephemeral manifestations of grief, potentially these memorials have effects that reach well beyond their creation. More educated, more mobile? Evidence from post-secondary education reform. Spatial Economic Analysis. This paper examines the causal impact of the level of education on within-country migration. To account for biases resulting from selection into post-secondary education, it uses a large-scale reform within the higher education system that gradually transformed former vocational colleges into polytechnics in Finland in the 1990s. This reform created quasi-exogenous variation in the supply of higher education over time and across regions. The discussion around children’s digital game culture has resulted in two contradictory images of children: the passive, antisocial children uncritically and mechanically consuming digital game content and the active, social children creatively using and interacting with digital game content. Our aim is to examine how these seemingly contradictory ideas of “active” and “passive” children could be considered.
