Prevalencia del patrón dactilar en los dermatoglifos de estudiantes universitarios de Jalisco, México
2018
fingerprinting is the sci ence that allows the identification of people through the study of the impressions of the papillary ridges of the fingertips. Despite its importance, in Mexico the data published on the frequency of the fingerprint date back to 1966. The studied sample consisted of 66 women and 34 male university students of Jalisco following the classification of Juan Vucetich. The results obtained showed that the fingerprint pattern with more frequency in right thumb in men was whorl (52.9%) and in women external loop (48.5%); left thumb whorls (52.9%) in men and (54.5%) in women; men's right index the internal loop (44.1%), and women (43.9%), left index internal loop in men and …
Lipomas intraóseos de calcáneo
1998
This paper reports two cases of intraosseus lipoma located in the calcaneous. This is a rare primitive benign tumour. The lipoma may present with varying forms due to its stage of evolut…
Neuromuscular function during knee exercises in water : with special reference to hydrodynamics and therapy
2002
The present series of studies examined neuromuscular function during knee exercise in water and training responses of an aquatic exercise program. Emphasis was placed on the quantification of water resistance, the drag. Subjects who participated in this series of studies were 25-35-year-old healthy women and men. Neuromuscular function was examined using electromyography (EMG), force and reflex sensitivity measurements in the isometric condition on land and in water. EMG and angular velocity were measured during dynamic knee extension-flexion in still and flowing water. The drag forces acting on the leg and foot model were measured in the barefoot condition and with a large resistance boot.
Utilización del manguito de isquemia en artroplastia total de rodilla. Práctica habitual en la Comunidad Valenciana y revisión bibliográfica
2019
The aim of this study is to know which is the routine clinical practice related to the use of ischemic tourniquet in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in hospitals of Comunidad Valenciana and to make a Literature review. We performed a retrospective, descriptive, observational study based on questioner surveys of specialists in Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology in 9 public Hospitals of Comunidad Valenciana 96, 9% of surgeons preferred the use of ischemic tourniquet in protheses implantation, versus 3,1% who did not. Among those who used Ischemic tourniquet, 57,8% preferred to inflate it before establishing a sterile field versus 39,1% who inflated the tourniquet once the sterile field was est…
Thyroid papillary carcinoma infarction after fine needle aspiration
1994
Complications following fine needle aspiration (FNA) are very infrequent and generally resolve spontaneously without treatment. The appearance of necrosis or infarction after FNA of the thyroid gland is an exceptional finding. An 83-year-old woman with a thyroid nodule was subjected to diagnostic FNA using a G23 needle. The patient noted a decrease in nodule size after FNA. A total thyroidectomy was performed 36 days after FNA. The cytological diagnosis was papillary carcinoma. Histology revealed massive coagulation necrosis affecting 80% of the tumor mass; the cytological diagnosis was confirmed. Iron pigment deposits were observed in the vicinity of the necrotic areas together with inters…
Endovascular Treatment with Drug-Eluting Balloon for Severe Subclavian Artery Stenosis Involving the Origin of the Vertebral Artery
2020
The first line approach for subclavian steal syndrome is PTA-stenting of subclavian artery. When the ipsilateral vertebral artery origin is involved or in closed proximity of the atherosclerotic lesion in the subclavian artery PTA-stenting is at risk of ipsilateral vertebral artery coverage. Herein we report our experience with DEB to address lesions involving the subclavian artery and the origin of the ipsilateral vertebral artery. From January 2017 to February 2019, patients presenting subclavian artery lesion involving the origin of the ipsilateral vertebral artery and treated using primary DEB, were included. Three patients, with left subclavian steal syndrome, were identified. The peri…
