A Chalcedonian Debt: Observations about the Attempts to Redress the Athenian Fiscal Policy (411-407)

Thucydides and Xenophon report several Athenian fundraisings in Ionia between 411 and 407. For one of them, Xenophon uses the term phoros and specifies that a backlog was due. However, the Athenians had abolished the tribute in 413 and replaced it with eikoste, a tax of one-twentieth on maritime trade. This article proposes to reexamine this well-known historical problem of the phoros reinstatement considering it through the prism of the debt in a contextualized study which leads to reassert, among others, that several tax systems were coexisting.

There is a growing number of various ethnic groups in Finland. The attitudes and categorizations that host country nationals have and make regarding migrants is frequently researched. The attitudes that migrants have towards other migrants has, however, been much less researched. This paper provides an in-depth analysis that considers what factors are behind the attitudes that migrants form of other migrants and how these impact categorizations and hierarchies. The empirical research material of this study is based on 77 qualitative interviews with migrants living in Finland, carried out in 2018–2019. OBJECTIVES This study determined: 1) the interobserver agreement; 2) valvular flow variation; and 3) which variables independently predicted the variation of valvular flow quantification from 4-dimensional (4D) flow cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) with automated retrospective valve tracking at multiple sites. Comparison between simulated and observed LHC beam backgrounds in the ATLAS experiment at E beam =4 TeV

Results of dedicated Monte Carlo simulations of beam-induced background (BIB) in the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) are presented and compared with data recorded in 2012. During normal physics operation this background arises mainly from scattering of the 4 TeV protons on residual gas in the beam pipe. Methods of reconstructing the BIB signals in the ATLAS detector, developed and implemented in the simulation chain based on the FLUKA Monte Carlo simulation package, are described.
