Measurement uncertainty impact on simplified load flow analysis in MV smart grids

This work is focused on the measurement uncertainty impact on load flow analysis in medium voltage (MV) distribution networks. In more detail, the paper presents the uncertainty evaluation of a simplified load flow algorithm, which is based on the load power measurements at each secondary substation and one voltage measurement at the slack bus (i.e. the voltage at the MV bus bars of the primary substation). Abstract In this paper, the probability density evolution of Markov processes is analyzed for a class of barrier problems specified in terms of certain boundary conditions. The standard case of computing the probability density of the response is associated with natural boundary conditions, and the first passage problem is associated with absorbing boundaries. Reliability and concurrent validity of the Velowin optoelectronic system to measure movement velocity during the free-weight back squat

The objective of this study was to explore the reliability and concurrent validity of the Velowin optoelectronic system to measure movement velocity during the free-weight back squat exercise. Thirty-one men (age = 27.5 ± 3.2 years; body height = 1.76 ± 0.15 m; body mass: 78.3 ± 7.6 kg) were evaluated in a single session against five different loads (20, 40, 50, 60 and 70 kg) and three velocity variables (mean velocity, mean propulsive velocity and maximum velocity) were recorded simultaneously by a linear velocity transducer (T-Force; gold-standard) and a camera-based optoelectronic system (Velowin). Enhancing the Sniper Simulator with Thermal Measurement

This paper presents the enhancement of the Sniper multicore / manycore simulator with thermal measurement possibilities using the HotSpot simulator. We present a plugin that interacts with Sniper to retrieve simulation data (integration areas and power consumptions) and calls HotSpot to compute the corresponding thermal results. The plugin also builds a two dimensional floorplan for the simulated microarchitecture. Furthermore we plan to integrate the simulation methodology presented here into an automatic design space exploration process using the multi-objective optimization tool called FADSE. International validation of the revised European Organisation for Research and treatment of cancer head and neck cancer module, the EORTC QLQ-HN43

Background: We validated the new European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Head and Neck Module (EORTC QLQ-HN43). Methods: We enrolled 812 patients with head and neck cancer from 18 countries. Group 1 completed the questionnaire before therapy, and 3 and 6 months later. In group 2 (survivors), we determined test–retest reliability using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC). Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's Alpha, the scale structure with confirmatory factor analysis, and discriminant validity with known-group comparisons. Nonlinear analysis of classical phase-locked loops in signal's phase space

Abstract Discovery of undesirable hidden oscillations, which cannot be found by the standard simulation, in phase-locked loop (PLL) showed the importance of consideration of nonlinear models and development of rigorous analytical methods for their analysis. In this paper for various signal waveforms, analytical computation of multiplier/mixer phase-detector characteristics is demonstrated, and nonlinear dynamical model of classical analog PLL is derived. Approaches to the rigorous nonlinear analysis of classical analog PLL are discussed.

On the use of adaptive spatial weight matrices from disease mapping multivariate analyses

Conditional autoregressive distributions are commonly used to model spatial dependence between nearby geographic units in disease mapping studies. These distributions induce spatial dependence by means of a spatial weights matrix that quantifies the strength of dependence between any two neighboring spatial units. Probabilistic Flood Hazard Mapping Using Bivariate Analysis Based on Copulas

This study presents a methodology to extract probabilistic flood hazard maps in an area subject to flood risk, taking into account uncertainties in the definition of design hydrographs.
