RELEASE BY SYMPATHETIC STIMULATION OF ALPHA-METHYLNORADRENALINE STORED IN THE HEART AFTER ADMINISTRATION OF ALPHA-METHYLDOPA.

1963

A Superantigen as Virulence Factor in an Acute Bacterial Infection

1994

This study addresses the role of a bacterial superantigen as a potential virulence factor during an acute systemic infection. BALB/c mice were intravenously infected with a recombinant Staphylococcus aureus strain capable of producing plasmid-encoded staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) or with the SEB plasmid-deficient parental strain. Infection with SEB-producing bacteria resulted in an initial expansion and subsequent decrease of circulating V beta 8+ T lymphocytes. This numeric decrease was accompanied by a SEB-specific state of hyporesponsiveness of splenic T cells. In parallel with SEB-triggered unresponsiveness of a large proportion of T lymphocytes, a weakening of the overall T cell r…

Cell Immunity in Inflammatory Vasculitis

2015

The vasculitides are a highly heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by the presence of inflammatory leukocytes in the vessel walls and reactive inflammation. Giant cell arteritis (GCA) and Takayasu’s arteritis (TA) are the two primary large-vessel vasculitides. Two distinct cellular pathways have been identified in GCA: Th17 polarization and IL-17 secretion and generation of Th1 cells which secrete IFN-γ. These two pathways may play different roles in the pathogenesis of vasculitides. The antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitides (AAVs) are small vessel vasculitis associated with antibodies directly to myeloperoxidase (MPO-ANCA) such as eosinophilic granulo…

Antimicrobial Effects Of The Ethanolic Extracts And Essential Oils Of Tanacetum Vulgare L From Romania

2015

Abstract This paper investigates the antimicrobial action of the extracts and essential oil of wildgrowing Tanacetum vulgare L on: Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Bacilus subtilis, using the diffusion disc method. The essential oils but also the ethanolic extracts tested exhibited moderate action on Staphilococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis and low action on E. coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The moderate antimicrobial activity is related to the amount of some chemical components of the essential oil of T. vulgare flos. Thus, this paper presents also the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the essential oils of T. vulgare harvested from two differ…

Sperata resilienza

2018

Ni/Zn Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH) Micro/Nanosystems and Their Azorubine Adsorption Performance

2021

A membranous shaped Ni/Zn layered double hydroxide based nanohybrid was obtained using a low-cost template-free hydrothermal process at optimized growth conditions of 180 °C for 6 h. The synthesized nanohybrid was structurally, texturally and morphologically characterized using different techniques such as X-ray diffraction, FTIR, XPS spectroscopy, BET analysis and FESEM microscopy. The adsorption performance of our product was estimated through the Azorubine dye removal from synthetic wastewater. We therefore studied the synergic effects of Ni/Zn adsorbent dosage, contact time, pH, adsorbate concentration, stirring speed and temperature on the Azorubine adsorption efficiency. In this inves…

NOTE SUI LIMICOLI SVERNANTI NELLE ZONE UMIDE COSTIERE DELLA PROVINCIA DI TRAPANI

2016

Notes on wintering waders in the coastal humid zones of province of Trapani (Sicily). The coastal wetlands of Trapani still are of great national importance for migratory and wintering waders despite the dramatic reduction occurred in the last hundred years. During this research the author carried out surveys in coastal wetlands from Trapani to Mazara del Vallo, in order to estimate qualitative and accurate quantitative values of wintering waders. The census includes four winters, from 2012-13 to 2015-16 and was carried out in the months of December and January. Noteworthy is the wintering for three consecutive years of the Terek Sandpiper Xenus cinereus, the wintering of Oystercatcher Haem…

ChemInform Abstract: Sterelactones: New Isolactarane Type Sesquiterpenoids with Antifungal Activity from Stereum sp. IBWF 01060.

2009

Four members of a new family of tetracyclic sesquiterenoids possessing the isolactarane skeleton have been isolated from mycelial cultures of Stereum sp. IBWF 01060. Their structure elucidation and their antifungal activity against several plant pathogens as well as other microorganisms are reported.
