Efficacy and tolerability of a plant-based, multi-component cream (Ginetrox®) in vulvovaginal disorders of the genitourinary syndrome during menopaus…

2017

BACKGROUND Genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM) is a symptomatic condition including vaginal dryness, irritation, dyspareunia and recurrent urinary tract infections which affects 40-54% of post-menopausal women. Although several estrogen-based therapies are available, it is generally preferable to avoid hormonal therapy, particularly in women with mild symptoms or at risk for estrogen-responsive neoplasia. Therefore, the most common treatment options are over-the-counter vaginal creams for symptomatic relief. METHODS Thirty-three postmenopausal women suffering from GSM were enrolled in this observational study. A multi-component cream (Ginetrox®, Indena, Milan, Italy) was applied on th…

Vulvo-vaginal atrophy: A new treatment modality using thermo-ablative fractional CO2 laser.

2015

a b s t r a c t Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and feasibility of thermo-ablative fractional CO2 laser for the treatment of symptoms related to vulvo-vaginal atrophy (VVA) in post-menopausal women. Methods: From April 2013 to December 2013, post-menopausal patients who complained of one or more VVA-related symptoms and who underwent vaginal treatment with fractional CO2 laser were enrolled in the study. At baseline (T0) and 30 days post-treatment (T1), vaginal status of the women was evaluated using the Vaginal Health Index (VHI), and subjective intensity of VVA symptoms was evaluated using a visual analog scale (VAS). At T1, treatment satisfaction was evaluated using a 5-point Likert …

The diagnosis of and treatment recommendations for anxiety disorders.

2014

Anxiety disorders (panic disorder/agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, social phobia, and specific phobias) are the most common mental illnesses. For example, the 12-month prevalence of panic disorder/agoraphobia is 6%.This guideline is based on controlled trials of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy, retrieved by a systematic search for original articles that were published up to 1 July 2013. Experts from 20 specialty societies and other organizations evaluated the evidence for each treatment option from all available randomized clinical trials and from a synthesis of the recommendations of already existing international and German guidelines.403 randomized controlled trials were eval…

Irregular Cytokine Pattern of CD4+T Lymphocytes in Response toStaphylococcus aureusin Patients with Wegener's Granulomatosis

1999

The initial stage of Wegener's Granulomatosis (WG) is often marked by symptoms of infection and it has been postulated that a bacterial infection could be the aetiologic factor of this disease. The objective of our work was to investigate T-cell-mediated immunity in WG by testing proliferative responses on bacterial antigens and particularly Staphylococcus aureus. We investigated the bulk proliferative response of peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBL) from patients with clinically active WG to gram-positive bacteria and purified proteinase 3 (PR-3), the major target antigen of c-ANCA. We generated S. aureus-specific PBL-derived T-cell lines and T-cell clones (TLC). In two WG patients 27 TLC we…

Cytotoksyczność wybranych metaloftalocyjanin wobec mikroorganizmów

2015

2017

Staphylococcus aureus ir viens no galvenajiem nozokomiālo infekciju izraisītājiem daudzās attīstītās pasaules valstīs. S.aureus samērā bieži ir meticilīnrezistents, tas nozīmē, ka tam ir rezistence pret visiem klasiskajiem beta laktāmu antibakteriālajiem līdzekļiem. Meticilīnrezistenci nosaka mecA gēns un tā integrācija baktērijas genomā. Baktēriju rezistences pieauguma dēļ būtiski ir noteikt atbilstošu antibakteriālo līdzekļu terapiju efektīvai ārstēšanai. Darba mērķis ir mecA gēna noteikšana klīniskajos Staphylococcus aureus celmos, kas iegūti no pacientiem, kuri ir ilgstoši uzturējušies veselības aprūpes iestādēs. Darbā tika izmantots GenoType® Staphylococcus tests, lai varētu noteikt me…
