Prognostic Relevance of CCN3 in Bone Sarcomas

Osteosarcomas and Ewing’s sarcoma (EWS) are aggressive malignant bone tumors. In both cases, prognostic markers are lacking. Presently, only clinical features are widely accepted as prognostic indicators. In this study we assessed the prognostic value of CCN3 (Nov), a matricellular protein that belong to the CCN family of regulatory proteins, whose members were shown to play crucial roles in bone formation. In osteosarcomas, CCN3 expression levels represent a useful tool to early identification of patients with different prognosis. Questa breve introduzione preannuncia i temi che sono sviluppati nella monografia "La ricerca didattica in Italia (1950-2020)", esplicita lo scopo per cui è stata scritta e chi sono i destinatari di essa; indica altresì la presenza di un glossario di lemmi specialistici che aiutano il lettore a comprendere meglio i presupposti storico-epistemologici della Didattica, le teorie dell’apprendimento, i metodi, gli strumenti e le tecniche della ricerca empirica in campo educativo ed i criteri generali di classificazione delle ricerche didattiche.

This paper deals with the calculation of shadow prices for two industrial wastes generated on their production processes by a sample of eighteen firms belonging to the Spanish ceramic pavements industry. These prices are used to construct a corrected index of productivity which allows for considering wastes going with the production of marketable goods. It is followed the ethodologicalapproach first proposed by Färe, Grosskopf, Lovell y Yaisawarng (1993), which establishes a duality between distance and revenue functions. The relationship between price-elasticity of demand, price variations and total revenue changes might be considered as one of the most widely accepted results arising from consumer theory. Recently, however, this relationship has been put under suspicion on the basis of a misinterpretation of what economists have in mind when writing about it. In this paper we try to clarify concepts incorporating new elements into discussion with the aim of reaffirming the validity of this relationship.

Delegated agency in multiproduct oligopolies with indivisible goods

This paper focuses on oligopolistic markets in which indivisible goods are sold by multiproduct firms to a continuum of homogeneous buyers, with measure normalized to one, who have preferences over bundles of products. Our analysis contributes to the literature on delegated agency games with direct externalities and complete information, extending the insights by Berheim and Whinston (1986, a , b) to markets with indivisibilities. By analyzing a kind of extended contract schedules - mixed bundling prices - that discriminate on exclusivity, the paper shows that efficient equilibria always exist in such settings. On Capturing Oil Rents with a National Excise Tax Revisited

In this paper the scope of Bergstrom’s (1982) results is studied. Moreover, his analysis is extended assuming that extraction cost is directly related to accumulated extractions. For the case of a competitive market it is found that the optimal policy is a constant tariff if extraction is costless. However, with depletion effects, the optimal tariff must ultimately be decreasing. For the case of a monopolistic market the results depend crucially on the kind of strategies the importing country governments can play and on whether the monopolist chooses the price or extraction rate.
