The Response of European Energy Prices to ECB Monetary Policy

To our knowledge, this paper is the first to discuss the response of European energy commodity prices to unexpected monetary policy surprises from the European Central Bank (ECB). Using the Rigobon (2003) identification through heteroscedasticity method, we find a significant and positive response during the crisis period for Brent and coal. Similar results are obtained by other authors for European financial assets in this period. This result reinforces the idea that during this period, financial assets and some commodities positively responded to conventional and unconventional expansionary monetary policy measures, increasing confidence about the survival of the European monetary union. …

VaR represents an advanced model of risk management, appropriate for estimating the financial risk of a financial title taken individually or of a portfolio of titles. The research aims to quantify the maximum loss of the securities value, based on their daily closing prices, at a 5% relevance level, using the historical simulation method. A reappraisal of the purported gastric pellet with Pterosaurian bones from the Upper Triassic of Italy

A small accumulation of bones from the Norian (Upper Triassic) of the Seazza Brook Valley (Carnic Prealps, Northern Italy) was originally (1989) identified as a gastric pellet made of pterosaur skeletal elements. The specimen has been reported in literature as one of the very few cases of gastric ejecta containing pterosaur bones since then. However, the detailed analysis of the bones preserved in the pellet, their study by X-ray microCT, and the comparison with those of basal pterosaurs do not support a referral to the Pterosauria. Could Low-Frequency Electromyostimulation Training be an Effective Alternative to Endurance Training? An Overview in One Adult

This preliminary study aimed to investigate the effects of a six-week low-frequency electromyostimulation training (10Hz) on the cardiovascular, respiratory and muscular systems. To that purpose, aerobic capacity, knee extensor muscles strength and architecture, muscle sympathetic nervous activity, blood pressure and heart rate have been evaluated in one healthy male subject (33 year-old, 1.73 m, 73 kg). Results showed improvement of aerobic capacity (+4.5% and +11.5% for maximal oxygen uptake and ventilatory threshold) and muscle strength (+11% and +16% for voluntary and evoked force). Jak wiadomo, język niemiecki jest językiem pluricentrycznym z narodowymi odmianami/centrami, który w obrębie języka prawa różni się także ze względu na obowiązujące w różnych krajach niemieckojęzycznych różne systemy prawa. Austriacki kodeks cywilny (ABGB), uchwalony w roku 1811, jest prawie o cały wiek starszy od swego odpowiednika w RFN (BGB), który wszedł w życie w roku 1900. Ów dystans czasowy pociąga za sobą także różnice w zakresie języka obu kodeksów. Celem artykułu jest pokazanie cech wspólnych i różnic w obrębie kolokacji w niemieckim i austriackim kodeksie cywilnym, które dotąd prawie całkowicie pozostawały poza obszarem badań.
