Jordanin sisältö ja Lebesguen ulkomitta

Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on tutustua Jordanin sisältöön ja Lebesguen ulkomittaan reaaliakselin välillä ja tason joukossa, joita käytetään muun muassa tutkittaessa funktion Riemann-\hskip0pt integroituvuutta. Tutkielmassa tutustutaan Jordanin sisä- ja ulkosisällön sekä Lebesguen ulkomitan tärkeimpiin ominaisuuksiin sekä niiden väliseen yhteyteen. Lisäksi käsitellään Jordanin ja Lebesguen ehdot funktion Riemann-integroituvuudelle. Rigidity and almost rigidity of Sobolev inequalities on compact spaces with lower Ricci curvature bounds

We prove that if $M$ is a closed $n$-dimensional Riemannian manifold, $n \ge 3$, with ${\rm Ric}\ge n-1$ and for which the optimal constant in the critical Sobolev inequality equals the one of the $n$-dimensional sphere $\mathbb{S}^n$, then $M$ is isometric to $\mathbb{S}^n$. An almost-rigidity result is also established, saying that if equality is almost achieved, then $M$ is close in the measure Gromov-Hausdorff sense to a spherical suspension. These statements are obtained in the ${\rm RCD}$-setting of (possibly non-smooth) metric measure spaces satisfying synthetic lower Ricci curvature bounds. Riemann surfaces and Teichmüller theory

Riemannin pinnat ja Teichmüller-teoriaa. Tämän työn päämääränä on määritellä Riemannin pintojen Teichmüller-avaruudet sekä tutkia niiden geometrisia ominaisuuksia. Ensin työssä kehitetään peiteavaruuksien ja toimintojen teoriaa, jota sovelletaan Möbius-kuvauksista koostuviin ryhmiin. Tämän jälkeen kvasikonformaalikuvaukset määritellään Riemannin pinnoille ja niiden yhteyttä yhdesti yhtenäisten Riemannin avaruuksien kvasikonformikuvauksiin tutkitaan. Highly Accurate Conservative Finite Difference Schemes and Adaptive Mesh Refinement Techniques for Hyperbolic Systems of Conservation Laws

We review a conservative finite difference shock capturing scheme that has been used by our research team over the last years for the numerical simulations of complex flows [3, 6]. This scheme is based on Shu and Osher’s technique [9] for the design of highly accurate finite difference schemes obtained by flux reconstruction procedures (ENO, WENO) on Cartesian meshes and Donat-Marquina’s flux splitting [4]. We then motivate the need for mesh adaptivity to tackle realistic hydrodynamic simulations on two and three dimensions and describe some details of our Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) ([2, 7]) implementation of the former finite difference scheme [1]. Tarkastelen työssä konformikuvauksia, sekä niihin liittyviä tärkeitä tuloksia. Esitän Riemannin kuvauslauseen todistuksen sekä todistan Schwarzin ja Christoffelin kaavan, joka karakterisoi konformikuvaukset puolitasolta monikulmiolle. Lisäksi tarkastelen työssä konformikuvausten soveltamista muutamiin fysiikan ongelmiin virtausmekaniikan, termodynamiikan ja sähköstatiikan aloilla. On the number of factors of Sturmian words

Abstract We prove that for m ⩾1, card( A m ) = 1+∑ m i =1 ( m − i +1) ϕ ( i ) where A m is the set of factors of length m of all the Sturmian words and ϕ is the Euler function. This result was conjectured by Dulucq and Gouyou-Beauchamps (1987) who proved that this result implies that the language (∪ m ⩾0 A m ) c is inherently ambiguous. We also give a combinatorial version of the Riemann hypothesis.

A multidimensional hydrodynamic code for structure evolution in cosmology

A cosmological multidimensional hydrodynamic code is described and tested. This code is based on modern high-resolution shock-capturing techniques. It can make use of a linear or a parabolic cell reconstruction as well as an approximate Riemann solver. The code has been specifically designed for cosmological applications. Two tests including shocks have been considered: the first one is a standard shock tube and the second test involves a spherically symmetric shock. Various additional cosmological tests are also presented. In this way, the performance of the code is proved. Multidomain spectral method for the Gauss hypergeometric function

International audience; We present a multidomain spectral approach for Fuchsian ordinary differential equations in the particular case of the hypergeometric equation. Our hybrid approach uses Frobenius’ method and Moebius transformations in the vicinity of each of the singular points of the hypergeometric equation, which leads to a natural decomposition of the real axis into domains. In each domain, solutions to the hypergeometric equation are constructed via the well-conditioned ultraspherical spectral method.
