Vähäinen fyysinen aktiivisuus lisää tyyppi 2 diabeteksen esiintyvyyttä ja mikä tahansa fyysinen aktiivisuus ehkäisee diabeteksen syntyä. Tarkoituksena oli selvittää aiemmin tunnistamattomien tyypin 2 diabeetikoiden, henkilöiden, joilla oli kohonneet glukoosiarvot ja normaalien verrokkien vapaa-ajan liikunta-aktiivisuuden ja tietämyksen tyyppi 2 riskitekijöistä muutokset viiden vuoden seurantatutkimuksessa. Tämän lisäksi tarkoituksena oli selvittää, ovatko tietämyksen muutokset yhteydessä muutoksiin vapaa-ajan liikunnassa. Early Health, Risk Aversion and Stock Market Participation

To examine the relationship between early health status and financial decisions in adulthood, we link information on birth weight in 1966 from the Northern Finland Birth Cohort to data from the Finnish Central Securities Depository over the period of 19952010. We find that persons predisposed to poor health status in early childhood (indicated by low birth weight) avoid participating in the stock market in adulthood. The link between birth weight and stock market participation is partially explained by the fact that poor early health status leads to risk aversion. Early health status is not significantly related to the portfolio’s value-growth tilt. nonPeerReviewed
A new picking algorithm based on the variance piecewise constant models

AbstractIn this paper, we propose a novel picking algorithm for the automatic P- and S-waves onset time determination. Our algorithm is based on the variance piecewise constant models of the earthquake waveforms. The effectiveness and robustness of our picking algorithm are tested both on synthetic seismograms and real data. We simulate seismic events with different magnitudes (between 2 and 5) recorded at different epicentral distances (between 10 and 250 km). For the application to real data, we analyse waveforms from the seismic sequence of L’Aquila (Italy), in 2009. Bakalaura darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 26 lapām. Tas satur 12 attēlus un 36 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis bija izpētīt dažāda vecuma cilvēku vizuālās meklēšanas spējas un atšķirības, veicot uzdevumu uz volumetriskā daudzplakņu ekrāna. 20 pētījuma dalībnieki bija sadalīti divās vecuma grupās (19-29 g. un 47-57 g.). Viņi veica vizuālās meklēšanas uzdevumus ar dažādu skaitu elementu un mērķa-distraktora līdzību. Dalībniekam bija jāatrod mērķa stimuls un jānosaka tā relatīvā atrašanas vieta uz volumetriskā ekrāna.
