This article analyses silence at the interface between print and audio media by reading and listening to Heinrich Böll's short story ‘Murke's Collected Silences’ (‘Doktor Murkes gesammeltes Schweigen’) in its book (1958) and three German-language radio play versions (1965; 1986; 1989). Reference is also made to Benjamin Gwilliam's sound art piece (2007) based on the 1986 adaptation. The Böll story thematises silence and media in various ways, and has definite countertextual aspects, in the sense of technology, textuality, and materiality of language. The identification and localization of two intermediate filament proteins in the tunic of Styela plicata (Tunicata, Styelidae).

The intermediate filament (IF) proteins Styela C and Styela D from the tunicate Styela (Urochordata) are co-expressed in all epidermal cells and they are thought to behave as type I and type II keratins. These two IF proteins, Styela C and Styela D, were identified in immunoblots of proteins isolated from the tunic of Styela plicata. The occurrence and distribution of these proteins within the tunic of this ascidian was examined by means of immunofluorescence and immunoperoxidase techniques, using anti-Styela C and anti-Styela D antibodies. AbstractIn this study, we argue that European countries’ extensive relationships with former colonies represent a location factor that attracts foreign headquarter investments. The strategic role of foreign headquarters as coordinators, opportunity detectors, and global bridgeheads makes the location choice of headquarter activities sensitive to historical-based institutional connections. Drawing on a sample of 2230 foreign headquarter investments in Europe, we find that the stronger the combined effect of historical connections and current economic relationships with former colonies, the higher the probability of attracting headquarter investment projects. In particolare, il saggio evidenzia l'incomprensione delle radici storiche della distinzione tra regole di validità e regole di responsabilità, pronenendone un superamento in chiave rimediale.
Gas-Phase Hydrogenation of Propionitrile Catalyzed by LnCu2 (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd)

The hydrogenation of propionitrile over binary copper−lanthanide intermetallic compounds (LnCu2, Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd) was studied in the gas phase. The results show that the reaction main product is the primary amine, the n-propylamine. To our knowledge, it is the first time that such behavior is reported for copper catalysts.

There is no gold standard in the treatment of hallux valgus deformity. The purpose of our study was to compare various aspects of radiographic assessment following scarf and chevron osteotomies and try to determine which technique helps achieve a more pronounced intermetatarsal angle (IMA) and hallux valgus angle (HVA) correction and produces lower rates of complications, including adjacent-joint arthritis. International audience; This paper focuses on Cloth, A Visual and Verbal Collaboration by Paul Muldoon and Rita Duffy. Muldoon’s poetic text and Duffy’s paintings were commissioned by the Millennium Court Arts Centre in Portadown in 2007 to feature in a collaborative exhibition and catalogue under the general banner “Interrogating Contested Spaces in Post-Conflict Society”.
